He be- <br />lieved.this would solve the problem and recommended that the matter be deferred. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Hilton, that the matter be <br />dropped from the. agenda. <br />The matter of the abatement proceedings against Vic Mich,el's blacksmith shop was next <br />brought up for discussion. City Attorney McCarthy stated he had contacted Miss <br />Michel and notified her that the Council was dissatisfied with the degree of <br />progress in removing the building. Sha informed Mr. McCarthy that she had <br />complained to the purchaser'of the buildl_ng and that she would have her'brother <br />contact him to see if the work could be speeded up and asked that the matter be <br />deferred until they had had a chance to contact him. Councilman McNulty moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the matter be carried on the agenda. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Britschgi asked if there wasn!.t some way to stop.the selling of old lumber <br />to be used for rebuilding and believed there should be some way to protect <br />buyers of.property against this practice. <br />Abatement _proceedings against the Carli property on.Manzanita Street was 'discussed. <br />As na one appeared to protect Mr. Carlits interests, Councilman Armstrong moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the matter placed on the agenda for the <br />next meeting to allow time for a representative.to appear before the Council. <br />City Attorney McCarthy presented an amendment to the zoning ordinance which had been <br />referred back to the Planning Commission for their final approval as to the <br />wording. He had submitted the amendment to Attorney 0. F. Nuckolls, vrho was <br />reprEs.enting interested property owners, and he had approved of the change in <br />wording. Councilman Armstrong moved introduction of the ordinance, seconded by <br />Councilman'. -McNulty. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised the Council that the Council had approved by a motion <br />at the meeting of February 7, the report of City P;Ianager Mead to purchase <br />property owned by Frank Goetz giving the city an option to purchase$ over a <br />period of four years, property to be used as a recreational site with the city <br />having the use of the property during that time. When City Manager Mead asked <br />the title company for a report on the title, the title company decided they <br />would like to record the contract. The contract had not been approved by a <br />resolution and the County Recorder accepted it and gave it a number without <br />knowing there was no resolution.
