<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />APRIL 17, 19416

<br />On roll call the following were present: Councilman Harold F. Anderson, C. 0. Armstrang,
<br />Carl A. Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, George W. McNulty, Mayor
<br />Floyd D. Granger aiid City Clerk Ralph S. Dodge. Also present were: City
<br />Manager Robert W. Mead, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy-, Fire Chief Mark E. Ryan,
<br />Police Chief C. L. Collins, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, City Collector N.
<br />L. Miramontes, Street Superintendent H.,L. Winter and Health Inspector Emil Steir.
<br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, minutes of the
<br />previous meeting were approved as mailed. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application for dance permit was received from Court Madrone, No. 158, F. of A., for
<br />Saturdays, April 22nd and 29th. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by
<br />Councilman Arm strong, that permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application. for dance permit was received from Haerd Frederic for dances to be held
<br />Wednesdays, April 19th and 26th, the fee of $2.50 for each dance having been
<br />paid. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that permit
<br />be granted. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application uras received from George H. Mosely, Peninsula Lbdge of the Elks (colored),
<br />Palo Alto, for permit to conduct a dance on Thursday, May 11, to be a benefit
<br />dance with an admission charge of seventy—five cents. Councilman Fletcher moved,
<br />seconded by Councilman Anderson with the understanding that the fee be paid,
<br />that the permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application to conduct a rummage sale was received from Mrs. Keller, 1448 Arroyo,
<br />San Carlos, representing the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, to be'held
<br />Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 19th2 20th and 21st, at 945 Main Street.
<br />On motion of Councilman Anderson,. seconded by Councilman Fletcher, permit was
<br />granted. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application for dance permit was received from the Womezi of the Moose, for dances to bE
<br />held on Fridays, April 21st and 28th. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by
<br />Councilman Fletcher, that permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application was received from the San Carlos Pilgrim Fellowship for permit to conduct
<br />a rummage sale on either April 28th or 29th. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded
<br />by Councilman Hilton, that permit be granted. Councilman McNulty, under the
<br />question, disapproved of outside organizations being allowed to hold such sales
<br />in Redwood City unless such organization represented a church. Motion passed
<br />unanimously.
<br />City.Clerk Dodge read Notice of Hearing before the Railroad Commission of the State
<br />of California in regard to the application of R. F. Martin of the Redwood City
<br />Bus Line to unify the operation of the bus line and to remove certain
<br />restrictions imposed upon his operation between Redwood City and Palo Alto.
<br />The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, April -26th, at 10:00 A. I(t., at the
<br />County Court House. Councilman Armstrong asked if the City Attorney would be
<br />present at this hearing. City Attorney 1.1c0arthy stated he would be present and
