City Manager Mead advised the Council that he had had the Fire Chief, Building Inspector and Health Inspector make a survey of various buildings in town. He had received a report on ten -of these buildings and recommended that legal action be taken to have them removed. City Clerk Dodge read the report. Mayor Granger asked that a copy of the report be submitted to each councilman to enable him to make a personal check on these buildings. Councilman Hilton asked for a report on the survey which the Fire Chief and Building Inspector were to make of the Sequoia Hotel in regard to fire escapes. City Manager Mead replied that the Fire Chief and Building Inspector had made a great effort to clean up rooming houses and hotels within the city. The fire escapes are in the process of being fabricated for the Sequoia Hotel and the other rooming houses and hotels are in the process of being brought into line with the city requirements. Health Inspector Stein is making a second round of the restaurants within the city and reports there has been a decided improvement in.every restaurant. - Councilman Anderson was•excused.from the meeting. - r City Attorney McCarthy reported that weed. abatement notices had been posted in accordance with the ordinance and that persons were directed to appear at this meeting to state -their -objections if any.; There were -no objections and Council- man Fletcher offered adoption of resolution requiring the abatement ofnuisance, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, Councilman Britschgi asked if this resolution determined the method of destroying the weeds. City Attorney McCarthy stated it did not, that it merely directed the property owner to remove them and if that was not done, the city -would do it. On roll call the motion passed unanimoulsy, Councilman Anderson absent. City Attorney McCarthy reported that County Tax Collector MacArthur had had executed a deed to twelve lots, some of which have been sold and four of which have not been sold, which would be of common benefit to the city and county. Councilman IuicNulty, seconded by Councilman Hilton, offered adoption of,resolution accepting deed. Under.the question, Councilman Britschgi asked if the real estate committee had studied this matter. City -Attorney McCarthy replied they had set the price on these lots some time ago. Mrs. Miramontes asked if the city should accept deed to lots which have not been sold. City Attorney McCarthy believed a it would be satisfactory. Mrs. Miramontes then asked if the county would have the right to sell these lots, to which Mr. McCarthy replied that the city would have to sell them and did not believe that this deed would interfere with an agreement which the county now has and to which Mrs. Miramontes made reference. On roll call motion passed unanimously, Councilman Anderson being absent. Mayor Granger asked City Manager Mead to look into the matter of a trailer having been moved in on a lot on 270 Nevada Street. Claims hlo. 39+5 to 3959 in the amount of $9666.46 were approved and ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. Motion passed unanimously.
