Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman I Anderson, that the invitation be accepted and the commission to notified that as many councilmen as possible will be present. Under the question, Councilman I Britschgi questioned the method by which members were appointed to the commission, stating "that appointments to other commissions needed the -approval of the council and that in this commission the council had no authority as to who was appointed. According to the by-laws of the Redwood City Community Council, a person has to be a member of that body before he may be appointed to I the commission. It was the consensus of opinion that the by-laws of the `S Community Council .were drawn up properly. Motion passed unanimously: City Manager Mead stated that he had asked -City Attorney McCarthy to prepare a 3 resolution as suggested by the League of Callfornia.Cities News Letter in which i ,i it was stated that a special session -of the State Legislature would be held June 5th, at which time consideration would be given to an appropriation by the state to assist,eities and counties in the development of engineering plans and surveys for postwar public works projects which would amount to between fivd and six million dollars allocated to cities on a population basis. The Neves Letter 4 l� suggested that cities prepare resolutions endorsing this legislation. City i1 Attorney McCarthy_ stated he had misunderstood the time for which this resolution was to have been prepared but stated the council could pass the resolution and jI he would prepare it after the meeting. Councilman Anderson offered adoption of resolution, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, Councilman �l Britschgi stated he believed the Mayor should approve the resolution. 0n roll call, motion passed unanimously. Mayor Hilton brought up 'the fact that Mr. Eugene Hoffman had been appointed to a city commission some time ago and that he had not appeared to take his oath of office. City Manager Mead stated that Mr, Hoffman had been notified of his appointment and that he would check on the matter. Councilman Granger asked when the council was going to meet on the matter of salary (� ordinance. City Manager Mead stated that a meeting would be necessary prior to the second meeting in June.- It was agreed to meet two weeks from this meeting, on June 12, 1944, to discuss the salary ordinance.
