D <br />0 <br />Mayor Hilton stated he had discussed the question•with Councilman Armstrong over the <br />telephone at Stockton and that later in the evening Councilman Armstrong called <br />him back and stated that after giving considerable thought he was still of the <br />same opinion as originally. Mayor Hilton stated that Mrs. Lee, chairman of the <br />entertainment committee, had stated that the churches of the community should <br />not be against the card party inasmuch as -practically all churches had no'Sunday <br />evening services. She also stated that Sunday was the only night of the week <br />for the swing shift workers to attend such a function. <br />Motion to rescind original motion failed to carry, Councilmen Britschgi, Granger, <br />• McNulty and Mayor Hilton voting No; Councilmen Anderson and Fletcher voting ;aye. <br />Clerk was instructed to notify interested parties by telephone immediately after <br />the meeting, if possible. <br />Adjournment. <br />R. M. <br />Upon -roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. C. Armstrong, <br />Carl A. Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, -Floyd D. Granger, George W. McNulty, Mayor W. i'. <br />Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager Robert W. <br />Mead, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Fire Chief Mark E. Ryan, Police Chief C. L. <br />Collins, Building Inspector L. M, Duncan, City Collector N. L. Miramontes, Street <br />Superintendent H. Li Winter and Health Inspector Emil Stein, <br />Councilman Anderson moved that the minutes of the regular meeting; adjourned meeting <br />of May 29th and special meeting of June lot, be approved as mailed with one <br />correction. In the minutes of the adjourned meeting of May 29th on page 4, ,he <br />stated that Councilman Granger had not moved that the permit be denied and that <br />that portion of the motion should be stricken from the record, seconded -by <br />Councilman Armstrong,- Motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Eugene Hoffman appeared before the Council to take oath of office for appointment <br />to the Board of•R view. He apologized for not having appeared sooner but stated <br />P <br />that this was the first meeting he was able to attend. City Clerk Dodge <br />administered the oath,- <br />Application-for <br />ath.• <br />Application for dance permit was received from Court Madrone No. 159, F: of A. for <br />dances to be held Staurdays, June 10th and 17th.
