i I 0 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL JUNE 199 1944 5:00 P. M. Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. C. Arm- strong, Carl A. Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, Floyd D. Granger, George W. McNulty, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager Robert W. Mead, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, Police Chief C. L. Collins,,City Collector N. L. Mira - montes, Street Superintendent H. L. Winter and Health Inspector Emil Stein. On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Anderson, minutes were approved as mailed. Motion passed unanimously. Application to conduct dances on Wednesdays, June 21st and 28th, until 12:00 P.M. was received from Yvonne Schlichtmann, fee having been paid. Councilman Britschgi moved, secgnded by Councilman McNultyji that permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously. Application for permit to conduct dances June 24th, July 1st and 3rd; was received from Court Madrone No. 158, F. of A. Councilman Fletcher moved,. seconded by Councilman Anderson, that permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously. Application to conduct dance at Foresters Hall July 4th until 1:00 A.M. .was received from the Italian Catholic Federation. After some discussion as to whether the Council had the authority to grant a permit for a dance scheduled to be held after the next regular meeting of the council, it was decided that it had been the policy of the council not to grant permits too far :in advance but that it dTd have the authority to do so. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Council- man Granger, that the permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously. City Clerk Dodge read communication received from Harry L. Parkman, State Senator, acknowledging receipt of Resolution No. 125, passed by the city pertaining to post-war projects and indicating his support of this legislation. Communication was ordered filed. Communication was received from the East and West Association suggesting that a message of cheer be sent to the Chinese people. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that the city manager and city attorney be authorized to frame an appropriate message of encouragement. Under the question,. Councilman Britschgi suggested that the letter be turned over to the Chamber of Commerce after the city's message was written. Motion passed una:iimously. Communication was received from Frank. A. DePatta, chairman of the Redwood City Sal- vage Committee, enclosing check in the amount of $25.76 from the Metal & Thermit Corporation in payment for tin can pick up for May, 1944. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the check be accepted and the money turned over to the War Council and also that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr. DePatta. Motion passed unanimously. Communication was received from Nelle L. Miramontes, City Collector, in regard to Thomas J. Callan, Colma, California, who had allowed oity taxes to become de- linquent on Lots 27, 28, Redwood Oaks, for many years in the amount of x$865.371 n qb L� �a
