On roll call motion passed unanimously, Councilmen Anderson absent. 7ity Manager head reported that the Vic Michel Blacksmith Shop was cleared away and the property was in good condition. el ity Manager Mead reported that the Garden City Products Company property was cleaned up in a very satisfactory manner. 7ouncilman Armstrong; moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the City Attorney be instructed to take steps to enforce the contract entered into by Mr. Munson. -Motion passed unanimously. Iity Clerk Dodge read communic,ntioft from A.. E. Allc.is requesting permission to erect two signs 4 x 7 on F, acres on Valota Road, one.block north of Woodsids Road, Lot 7, for the purpose of showing acreage that is being subdivided. City Manager Mead explained that this sign is larger than that provided in the ordinance forwhich the Building Inspector can issue a permit. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that permit be granted. Councilman McNulty stated he be- lieved it should be understood that the sign should advertise that particular niec of property and not listings. City Manager Mead stated that the permit is for one year only and at that tithe would have to be renewed. Councilman Britschg'i was of the opinion -that a plan should be presented to the council showing the location of the sign. City Manager Mead stated that there are certain set back lines which have to be observed under the ordinance. Motion passed -unanimously. j .ouncilmari Armstrong offered resolution accepting proposed annexation and setting a -date for hearing of August 7 in regard to Red Feather Products request for annex- ation of additional area joining the present property, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. On roll call motion passed unanimously, Councilman Anderson absent. C 4r. Greenb�ch appeared before the council requesting; permission''to build maid's auart i on his property at the corner of Copley and Whipple.. Building Inspector Duncan Im stated that the quarters were being built apart from the main residence and there was a question as to whether it would be considered another residence. Inasmuch as it is against the ordinance to have two separate dwelling places on one piece of property in a first class residential district, it was the consencus of the council that the addition should be made a part of the house, to which PCr. Green - Bach agreed. �,ouncilman Britschgi-questioned the claim for telephones in connection with Civilian Defense -and was advised by City Manager Mead that all the telephones with the exception of one had been disconnected as of June 30. ,ouncilman Granger was of the opinion that it was the intent of the charter for the mayor to sign checks. There was some discussion on this matter, - it being pointed out thot the charter also states that a person other than the mayor may be desig- nated by the council to sign the checks. Councilman Armstrong stated he did not believed there would ba any additional safeguard inasmuch as the mayor approves the claims. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the question be referred to the committee meeting with the. auditor, Mr. Uhlenberg. Motion passed unanimously.
