MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />s. •. �, JULY 172 1944 <br />Upon roll call the following were present: H . F. Anderson, C. C. Armstrong, C. A. <br />Britschgi, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. <br />Dodge. Absent E. A. Fletcher. Also present were uitiy Manager n. VV. Meau, rr.rc <br />Chief M. E. Ryan, Chief of Police C. L. Collins, City Collector N. L. Miramontes, <br />Street Superintendent H. L. Winter. <br />On motion of Coucilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Granger, Minutes of.meeting <br />Of July 3rd approved as mailed. <br />Application for.permit to conduct dances on Wednesdays, July 19, 26 and August 2nd <br />received from Yvonne Schlichtman, allowed on motion of Councilman Britschgi, <br />seconded by Councilman Granger. <br />Dancer Permit granted to Court Mad.rone #1592 F. of A. Hall Committee, for Saturdays <br />July 22, 29 and August.5 on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi. <br />Communication received from Bark and Recreation Commission recommending purchase of <br />. ten baby swing seats and one climbing tree at a cost not to exceed $275.00 to be <br />paid from Special Recreation Fund. On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, purchase was authorized. <br />Communication from Mrs. Nelle Miramontes, City Collector, asking for permission to; <br />cancel taxes and assessments�on Lot 16, Block 2, and Lot 16, Block 1, Wallace <br />Subdivision, amounts listed below, was read: <br />Delinquent taxes 67,48 <br />Delinquent weed taxes 8.46 <br />Delinquent bond K-8 628.8,9 <br />Delinquent BolmIJ-14 76.50 <br />Res: of Intention 145-7;899 15.00 <br />Res. of Intention M5-7#930 20.00 $816.32 <br />Councilman Granger stated in his opinion resolution should be prepared covering <br />acceptance of lots mentioned?.to be used as a street wherever Oak Avenue is ex- <br />tended to Ebener Street to a point approximately 100 feet east of Reese Street. <br />Councilman Armstrong offered resolution of acceptance, to be recorde4 seconded <br />by Councilman Granger. Motion carried on troll call, Councilman Fletcher absent. <br />Clerk read notice of alcoholic beverage application from State Board of Equalization <br />allowing 15 days to file objections to granting license to Thornton Walker, dba <br />Two Friends. Councilma:ft Anderson stated he had heard considerable comment on <br />recent shooting and stabbing scrapes at this establishment and asked Police Chief <br />Collins through Mayor Hilton for a teport on same. Chief Collins read off a list <br />of recent violations, stating that Thornton Walker, however, was a new proprietor, <br />and that he had requested a regular police checkup with a view to keeping the•plac: <br />on a lawful basis. After considerable discussion, Councilman Armstrong moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Anderson, that a formal protest be filed with the State Board <br />of Equalization requesting a denih.l of permit.
