Motion carried. <br />3ity Manager Mead also recommended amendment to Business License Ordinance -assessing <br />Telephone Co. and possibly Telegraph Co. for a business license., This -was also <br />ordered placed on the agenda on motion of Councilman Anderson, -seconded by Council- <br />man Granger. <br />3ity Attorney read a San Mateo Ordinance. exempting owners of dogs honorably discharged <br />from the army, from paying dog licenses. It was suggested that any claims be re- <br />ferred to the Council. for the purpose of allowing such exemption without the expense <br />of.adopting an ordinances. <br />"ity Attorney McCarthy reported on.a.telephone conversation with Mr. William Hanrahan <br />regarding eight I-14 Bonds of the 1915 Act Series, totaling $4,000 face value, all <br />of which bonds outstanding .are the property of Mr. Hanrahan. Mr. Hanrahan claims <br />principal -and interest at 7% to date, whereas there is but 04,276.07 in the I-14 <br />Bond Fund. Mr. McCarthy advised he had discussed the matter with Mr. Youngberg of <br />Stone and Youngberg, who recommended that the city pay Mr. Hanrahan the amount in <br />the fund only. On motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Couneilman Anderson, <br />City Attorney was instructed to inform Mr. Hanrahan of their decision to offer <br />$4,276.07 in full payment, and the Clerk was directed to mail the bonds, numbered <br />19, 209 22, 23, 25, 26, 28 and 29, which were.delivered to the -late Mr. Dimmitt on <br />or about July 1, 1942, back to Mr. Hanrahan, registered mail, return receipt re- <br />quested. Motion carried. <br />lity Attorney McCarthy read a proposed ordinance to harmonize the city's dates and <br />rate of delinquency on tax bills with the State Law. On motion of Councilman <br />Granger, seconded by Councilman Anderson, matter was ordered placed on agenda for <br />meeting of August 7th to give City Collector Miramontes time to read over the <br />proposed ordinance. Motion carried. <br />;laims #4283 to 4332 amounting to 4313,663.87 were authorized paid on motion of Council-, <br />man McNulty, seconded by Councilman Armstrong. <br />Ar. E. M. Casket' of 52 Copley Avenue, appeared to protest the'erection of a separate <br />,dwelling on a lot at Whipple and Copley Street owned by a Mr. Greenbach. Mr. <br />Caskey was informed that the Council had denied Mr. Greenbach a permit -at the last <br />* meeting, and City Manager Mead was instructed to investigate -and stop the violation <br />assuming no -permit had been issued, on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty. <br />,ouncilman Anderson offered resolution to accept Lanham Act Funds for July and August, <br />1944, recreation activities amounting to $150q seconded by Councilman Armstrong, <br />and carried on roll call. <br />riouncilman Britschgi offered resolution adjourning meeting in honor of Hubert Hoenck wha <br />LR <br />lost his life in the service of his country. <br />and carried on. roll call. <br />Motion seconded by Councilman Armstrong <br />WAAIL_� <br />R.
