<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />AUGUST 7, 1944
<br />5:00 P. M.
<br />On roll call the following were present.:.,Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. C. Armstrong,
<br />Carl Britschgi, E. A. Fletcher, Floyd D. Granger, George W. McNulty, Mayor
<br />W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager
<br />R. W. Mead, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Building Inspector,L. M. Duncan,
<br />Fire Chief M..E. Ryan, Police Chief C. L. Collins, City Collector N. L. Mira -
<br />montes, Street Superintendent H. L. Winters, Recreation Director Alfred S.
<br />.Morton and Health Inspector Emil Stein. '
<br />Minutes of previous meeting were approved, as mailed on motion of Councilman McNulty,
<br />seconded by Councilman Granger.
<br />Application for dance permit was received from.Cout:t Madrone No. 155, F. of A., for
<br />Saturdays, August 12th and 19th, to 1:00 A.M. Councilman Fletcher moved,
<br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi that permit be granted. Motion passed unani-
<br />mously.
<br />Application for,dance permit was received from Yvonne Schlitzmann for dances to be
<br />held Wednesdays, August 9th and 16th, to 12:00 M., $$5.00 fee,liaving been paid.
<br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that permit be
<br />granted. Motion carried unanimously.
<br />City Clerk Ralph S. Dodge read communication received from the Redwood City Woman's
<br />Club requesting permission to,conduct a rummage sale on Main Street. -Septem-
<br />ber 29, 1944. It was moved by Councilman,Fletcher, seconded by Councilman
<br />McNulty, and carried, that the permit be granted.
<br />Application for restaurant license was received from James Zacanti and August
<br />Siginoli to operate the "Redwood Inn" located at 755 El Camino Real. Mr.
<br />Siginoli now operates the "Redwood Inn" and is going into partnership with
<br />James Zacanti. The license fee of $20.00 has been paid to June 30,.1945.
<br />Health Inspector Stein reported that the facilities were adequate. It was
<br />moved by Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, and carried,
<br />that the permit be granted subject•to.the.approval of the health department.
<br />Application for restaurant license for Willie Williamson to operate restaurant to
<br />be known as Willie's Southern Kitchen, 2314 Broadway, change in ownership from
<br />Ray.and Willies Kitchen. License fee of $$20.00 has been paid up to June 30,
<br />1945. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that per-
<br />mit be granted. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Application for restaurant license was received from L. E. Boudreau to conduct a
<br />restaurant known as the Broadway Creamery at 2059 Broadway. License fee will
<br />be paid when restaurant opens. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Council-
<br />man Britschgi, that permit.be granted subject to approval of the health depart-
<br />ment. Motion passed unanimously.
<br />City, Clerk Dodge read communication received from the State Board of Equalization
<br />acknowledging receipt of protest made by the Council against the issuance of
<br />an on -sale beer license to Mr. Walker of the Two Friends Cafe. Councilman
