■ Communication were received from the City of Augusta, Georgia, and the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, requesting•that the City of Redwood City requebt Senators Dpwney and Johnson and Congressman Anderson to lend,their support, to insure prompt disposition of the River and Harbor Bill, H. R.,3961, now pending in, the Senate. City Manager Mead reported that Iie had requested City Attorney McCarthy to check on the particulars of this bill and Mr. McCarthy reported that i.e bill provides for the improvement of Redwood Creek and the widening and deepening of San Bruno„Shoals. He stated that the Board of Port Commissioners adopted a resolution urging the support of Senators Downey and Johnson and Congressman Anderson in the passage of this bill and directed that a copy of this resolution be sent to the senators and congressman. City Attor- ney McCarthy stated he believed it would be the recommendation of the Port Commission that the City Council do the same. Councilman Fletcher offered resolttibn:i along the lines of that adopted by the Port Commission and di- rected that a copy be sent to both senators and congressman, seconded by Councilman McNtaty. On roll call motion passed unanimously. City, Clerk Dodge read communication from the Redwood City Lions Club requesting ,permission to erect an Honor Roll containing the names of all.citizens of the Redwood City area who are serving in the armed forces of the united States It was the opinion of the Lions Club committee that the Roll should be erected `.1h':,the vicinity of the City Hall. Mr. Jgseph Territo chairman of the committee appeared.before the council to answer any questions which might be asked the committee in regard to the matter. Councilman Fletcher moved that permission be granted to erect the Honor Roll subject to the approval of ,the Building Inspector in order that the structure conform in architecture to the rest of the buildings. Mr. Territo stated that he had no sketch Qf the proposed struc- ture but that it would be approximately 35 feet long and 8 or 9 feet high and the Lions Club would be glad to confer with the Building Inspector as to the architecture so that it would conform with the municipal buildings. There was some discussion as to the proposed site, it being the wish of the Lions Club to erect the Roll in front of the City Hall. A Mr. H4stings also appeared before the Council and explained how the structure would be built and vouched for its durability. Councilman Anderson stated he would second the motion before the Council but suggested that Councilman Fletcher amend his motion to include that the Mayor appoint a committee who would irork with the Lions Club in regard to the plans and site of the Honor Roll. Councilman FletchEr so amended his motion, seconded by Councilman Anderson. Motion carried unanimously. Councilman McNulty, as chairman of the real estate committee, reported that the committee had approved the cancellation of delinquent taxes on Lots 16, Block 2, and Lot 16, Block 1, Wallace Subdivision inasmuch as these lots are not to be resold but are to be used as a street whenever Oak Avenue.is extended from Ebener Street to a point approximately 100 feet east of Reese Street and across the northerly ends of Lots 26 and 29, Reese,Subdivision,,and recommended that these lots be taken off the tax roll. Councilman Fletcher ,moved that the Q 7
