Under the question, Councilman Granger asked if it wasn't necessary to pass a resolution and have it recorded to cover this transaction. City Attorney McCarthy stated that a resolution had been prepared f or this Purpose dedicating these two lots as public streets, and had been recorded. Motion passed unanimously. City Manager Mead reported that he had written Mr. J. J. Jordan,. Superintendent of the Southern Pacific Company, and requested permission to plan roses along the Southern Pacific right-of-way. He stated that he had a reply that the matter was being given attention but that nothing further had been heard. He advised the council that he had contacted Mr. Henry Beeger, owner of the adja- cent property, who had given his consent to the roses being planted. Council- man Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Granger, that the matter be carried on the agenda. Motion passed unanimously. CouncilmanGranger moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the matter of ap- pointment of a city treasurer be ssrrJed on the agenda. Motion -passed unanimous'1y. Councilman Fletcher moved that proof of publication of resolution giving notice of proposed annexation of additional property, at Red Feather Products Company be filed, seconded by Councilman Armstrong. Motion passed unanimously. Mayor Hilton asked if there was -anyone in the audience who wished to pro- test the annexation. There were no protestantsrsnd Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Anderson, offered introduction of ordinance covering annexation of additional property at Red -Feather Products Company. Motion passed unani- mously. In the matter of the application of Harvey L. Deem for permit to raise turkeys com- mercially at 127 Park Street, City Clerk Dodge reported that notices were sent - to adjoining property owners to give them an opportunity to voice objections to granting this permit. Mr. Harry Ude, 201 Park Street, addressed the council pr b4, testing the issuance of the permit, stating that the residents of that area had: signed an agreement not to participate in any commercial enterprise. When Mayo - Hilton asked if there were any more protestants, approximately fourteen members - of the audience arose signifying their objection to the permit. Councilman Anderson replied that there were twenty-three notices sent out, to which Counci — man Anderson commented that approximately 5go.of the property owners objected. Mr. Deem appeared before the council stating that it had been his intention to raise turkeys for the duration only but it appeared that the majority of proper�y owners did not want the permit granted. Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the permit be denied. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Deem asked for a reasonable time to remove the turkeys and was granted fif teen days time. Mayor Hilton said that the statement had been made that Mr. Deem had several roosters. Mr. Deem replied that he had only one. .City Clerk Dodge reported that he had written Mr. Benjamin Fireman informing him that the Council had acted to give Mr. Fireman until this meeting to clean up his property in Vera Avenue Villa.
