MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 14, 1944 10:00 A.M. Upon roll call the following were noted present: Councilmen E. A. Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, Hlayor W. W. Hilton and Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City Manager R. W. Mead, City Attorney P. -A. I;IcCarthy, City Assessor N. L. Miramontes and Police Lieutenant Wood. City Clerk submitted applications for renewals of permit of several used car lots. On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Granger, these appli- cations were held over for fuer consideration at the meeting of August 21st. Communication from National War Fund and Community Chest was read requesting the usual contribution. On motion .of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the sum of $450 was ordered paid to the Community Chest. Communication from State Reconstruction and Re-employment Commission announcing conference at the Oakland City Hall on August 23rd and 24th addressed to Mayor Hilton was read by the Clerk. Anyone able to attend this meeting was urged to be present. Letter filed. Communication from San Mateo Chamber of Commerce inviting the Mayor, Councilmen and City officials to attend Golden Jubilee of the city of San Mateo on Septem- ber 3rd was read and ordered filed. Councilman Granger suggested that the items in the budget covering convention ex- penses be eliminated due to cancellation of the League of California Cities convention. Councilman McNulty stated his objections to transferring the amounts involved to the unbudgeted reserve. After discussion, Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman I.TeNulty, that the amounts be left in the budget which will come up for adoption Monday, August 21-st. After adoption, the amounts will be transferred to the unbudgeted reserve with the understandi.zg the the reserve will be reduced by a corresponding amount. Carried. There being no further business, meeting adjourned to redonvene as the Board of Equalization on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty. R. S. Dodge, C ty Clerk MINUTES OF ANNUAL MEETING BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AUGUST, 14, 1944 10:20 A.M. The annual meeting of the Board of Equalization convened in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City, California at the hour of 10:20 a.m. Clerk advised that notice to -taxpayers had been published in the Redwood City Tri- bune on August 7th and 10th, 1944, thus complying with the law. There being no protestant or taxpayer appearing before the board and having received no written protest, meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m, on motion of Boardmember Fletcher, seconded by Boardm@mber McNulty.
