MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 14, 1944 <br />10:00 A.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were noted present: Councilmen E. A. Fletcher, <br />F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, Hlayor W. W. Hilton and Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also <br />present were City Manager R. W. Mead, City Attorney P. -A. I;IcCarthy, City <br />Assessor N. L. Miramontes and Police Lieutenant Wood. <br />City Clerk submitted applications for renewals of permit of several used car lots. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Granger, these appli- <br />cations were held over for fuer consideration at the meeting of August 21st. <br />Communication from National War Fund and Community Chest was read requesting the <br />usual contribution. On motion .of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, the sum of $450 was ordered paid to the Community Chest. <br />Communication from State Reconstruction and Re-employment Commission announcing <br />conference at the Oakland City Hall on August 23rd and 24th addressed to Mayor <br />Hilton was read by the Clerk. Anyone able to attend this meeting was urged <br />to be present. Letter filed. <br />Communication from San Mateo Chamber of Commerce inviting the Mayor, Councilmen <br />and <br />City <br />officials to <br />attend <br />Golden Jubilee of the city of San Mateo on Septem- <br />ber <br />3rd <br />was read and <br />ordered <br />filed. <br />Councilman Granger suggested that the items in the budget covering convention ex- <br />penses be eliminated due to cancellation of the League of California Cities <br />convention. Councilman McNulty stated his objections to transferring the <br />amounts involved to the unbudgeted reserve. After discussion, Councilman <br />Granger moved, seconded by Councilman I.TeNulty, that the amounts be left in the <br />budget which will come up for adoption Monday, August 21-st. After adoption, <br />the amounts will be transferred to the unbudgeted reserve with the understandi.zg <br />the the reserve will be reduced by a corresponding amount. Carried. <br />There being no further business, meeting adjourned to redonvene as the Board of <br />Equalization on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />R. S. Dodge, C ty Clerk <br />MINUTES OF ANNUAL MEETING <br />BOARD OF EQUALIZATION <br />AUGUST, 14, 1944 <br />10:20 A.M. <br />The annual meeting of the Board of Equalization convened in the Council Chambers in <br />the City Hall, Redwood City, California at the hour of 10:20 a.m. <br />Clerk advised that notice to -taxpayers had been published in the Redwood City Tri- <br />bune on August 7th and 10th, 1944, thus complying with the law. <br />There being no protestant or taxpayer appearing before the board and having received <br />no written protest, meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m, on motion of Boardmember <br />Fletcher, seconded by Boardm@mber McNulty. <br />Adjournment. <br />R.
