City Attorney McCarthy reported that he had,been able to obtain a grant of easement for a five foot sttip,of land on Valota,Roa.d for the pYu^pose of sewer . easement and drainage easement, the deed being from August,P. Gejar4i and Dina Gelardi, Ziis wife, and without charge to the city. ,Covricilman Britschgi offered resolution accepting deed of easement anal moved its,adpption, seconded by Councilman Anderson. On.roll call, motion passed unanimously. City Attorney McCarthy reported that he had been asked to draft a letter in re- gard to rat abatement in Redwood City and presented a Copy of.a letter,to, . each one of the councilmen for their further study., Councilman Granger asked if it would be possible to get the necessary piles driven in at the Yacht Harbor while the Navy is at the Port. City Manager Mead said that in his opinion the piles were in good condition, in fact, better than they have ever been. Some work has been done at Yacht Harbor in the past week and the float is now permanent. Councilman Anderson stated there had been some criticism in regard to there _ being no watchman at the Harbor. City Manager Mead replied that the City was without a watchman for two or three days but that one has now been engaged. Councilman Armstrong asked the status of the building being built on the Greenbach property at the corner.of Copley and Whipple. Building Inspector Duncan reported that he had contacted Mr. Greenbach who was supposed to be present at this meeting with plans and specifications. Mr. Duncan advised the Council that he had refused to issue a permit to Mr. Greenbach. Councilman Armstrong asked if Yvhat Mr. Greenbach was doing, now was in violation of the building code and was advised that it was inasmuch as it has no foundation. Councilman Armstrong moved that the matter.be placed on the agenda for the next meeting, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Councilman Anderson was of the opinion that the owmer should be notified, which was added to the motion. Tjotion passed unanimously. Councilman McNulty questioned.parts for cars being purchased out of town. City Manager Mead replied that an attempt had been made to purchase them in town but that it had been impossible. Claims No. 4397 to 4436 in the amount of $15,791.97, were approved and ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. Motion passed unanimously. ' Councilman Britschgi offered resolution adjourning meeting of August 28, at 9:00 9 P.M. qut of respect to the memory of Joseph Corbett,'a former member of the Board of Review, and that a copy of the resolution be sent.to the members of his family.
