Councilman Anderson said he voted against the previous motion because he <br />believed the matter should be referred to the Planning Commission and so moved. <br />Councilman Fletcher said the Planning Commission was planning to eliminate used <br />car lots on Ei Camino Real. Councilman Anderson withdrew his'motion, and sug- <br />gested that the. Council wait until suggestions are received from the Planning <br />Commission_ and at thattime the Council might be able to'grant the permit. <br />Councilman Fletcher asked what would happen to Mr. Van Burer-'s business in the <br />meantime. Councilman Anderson suggested a temporary permit be granted for sixj;y <br />days and the fee pro rated. I4ayor Hilton was of the opinion that Mr. Van, Buren <br />should be granted a permit so that he could conduct his business. Councilman <br />Fletcher moved that a temporary permit be granted for at least sixty days. IRs. <br />Van Buren said he would rather not have a permit for sixty days but would prefer, <br />a permit until the Planning; Commission brings in a final report on the matter. <br />Councilman McNulty moved that a permit be granted until such time as the Pla_nnin„ <br />Commission gives a report on the matter, seconded by CouncilmenAFletcher. Under <br />the question, City Attorney McCarthy suggested that in the meantime Mr. Van Bure.ri <br />be instructed not to incur any capital expense which -would justify further con- <br />sideration of the council. I;Iotion passed with Councilman Armstrong voting in <br />the negative. <br />stituted a building or a piece. of equipment, the question being that if it were <br />0 considered a building, Lira Casaretto violv.ted the ordinance by'not obtaining a <br />permit and, if it were considered a piece of equipment, no permit was needed. <br />Kill Mrs. Casaretto appeared before the Council. stating that the ice box was a <br />piece of equipment inasmuch as it was essential to their business. She also <br />stated that plans were being formulated to build on this lot as soon as materials' <br />were available and that this ice box would be installed inside the building. She: <br />said the ice box was too large to put in the building noir occupied. <br />0 <br />City <br />Attorney McCarthy suggested that a motion be made continuing the Greenbach matter - <br />'until the second meeting in October so as not to lose jurisdiction over the matter. <br />Councilman An(5erson so moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Motion passed <br />'. <br />unanimously. <br />City <br />Manager Mead reported on the alleged boarding house at 35 Hudson 'Street. He stated <br />this was the same property which was inspected three or four months.ago. The <br />Health Inspector and Building. Inspector made another inspection and the conditioxs <br />of Mr. Mea.d's letter of May 12th had not been complied with. The Building Inspec- <br />tor has started abatement proceedings. City Manager I,Iead suggested the matter <br />be placed on the agenda for the first meeting in October. <br />I;ity <br />Manager Mead reported on the matter of an ice box being stored on a lot owned by <br />L. CAsaretto and next to hi -s place of business. He stated it was a portable, <br />sectional box and was definitely essential to the carrying on of Mr. Casaretto's <br />business inasmuch as it was a facility needed for the* storage of food.
