The affidavit of Lars Anderson was also presented to the Council and re- <br />quest made that it be filed with the application for restaurant.license. The <br />affidavit denies any relationship to Cal Bunyard by Lars Anderson and Leonard <br />Hansen and states that Philip A. Bunyard, Una L. Bunyard and Cal Bunyard have no <br />interest of any kind in the business. <br />Affidavit of Leonard Hansen was presented said request made that it be filed <br />with the original application for license. This affidavit also denies any rela- <br />tionship to Cal Bunyard or Una L. Bunyard or Philip Bunyard and states that they <br />have no right or interest in the business. <br />Mr. O'Keefe also presented certificate of notary public certifying that <br />copies of State Board of Equalization letter directed to Wayne Millington and <br />report of Health Department are true copies. The letter to Mr. Millington state3 <br />that liquor license issued to June Bunyard was automatically revoked by reason o:' <br />non -renewal. Mr. O'Keefe explained that Mr. 'Anderson and Mr. Hansen were ob- <br />liged to buy a liquor license in San Mateo from F. Monisteri for this reason. <br />Mrs. John Casaretto appeared before the Council representing the protestants <br />and said that while the residents were willing to cooperate, they did not want a <br />recurrence of conditions which existed when Cal Bunyard operated his business at <br />this location. <br />1.12% O'Keefe stated there would be no outdoor entertainment of the character <br />that was submitted to the public by Cal Bunyard, and that there would be no <br />} <br />outdoor lighting. It will be entirely a restaurant and all diversions will be <br />theld inside. <br />There were two or three other protestants to the issuance of the permit. <br />There was a lengthy discussion by the members of the Council as to whether <br />or not it was within the jurisdiction of the Council to deny the permit. City <br />Attorney McCarthy was of the opinion that there must be -some factual evidence <br />against the holder of the license, either as to his moral character or that there <br />was a violation of city or state laves. Councilman Anderson stated the Council <br />i <br />had the right to revoke the license and that if there was any objection to the <br />manner in which the business was being conducted he would be the first to vote <br />to revoke the license, which opinion was shared by the other members of the Coungil. <br />Councilman IuicNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that the permit be <br />granted. The matter was turned over t �o she Finance Commitee for <br />a report at the next meeting of the Council. <br />• Mrs. Hollenbnugh appeared before the Council in regard to the boarding house at 35 Hud <br />son Street and asked the Council to take the same action which was taken in regard <br />to the Boarding house on Edgewood Road. Councilman Britschgi questioned the fact; <br />" that this was not a boarding house but sublet into apartments and cgoking was <br />done in the apartments. It was explained that a neighbor had avpeared before the; <br />Council requesting that the Council terminate the variance to the ordinance at <br />'• the termination of the.war and that there eras no objection to it at the present <br />
