On roll call, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Armstrong moved that this matter be continued until the first meeting in November, seconded by Councilmen Fletcher. P;Iotion passed unanimously. Mrs. Hollenbaugh asked if it would be necessary for her to appear at that meeting, to which Mayor Hilton replied that it would not be as the Council had, given its assurance that nothing definite would be done until after the duration., Mr. Teddy Lauman appeared before the Council requesting permission for the occupant of Everybody's Store on Main Street to melte repairs for storing merchandise at the rear of the store. Building Inspector Duncan reported that he had made an in- spection and was unable to grant a permit inasmuch as the building is in the first fire district. Fire Chief Ryan also reported that he could not make a favorable report inasmuch as it was his belief'that it would constitute a fire hazard. Mr. Lauman said it was impossible to build a first class fire building at the present time and that it was the wish of the occupant of the store to con- vert two sheds in the back into one shed to make it large enough to. stare.•equin- ment. The occupant of the store also appeared anel. stated he 'wished t6 improve the conditions of the sheds already there. Councilman Britschgi did not believe any more wooden buildings should be built in that location. It was the consensus of the Council that inasmuch as the Building Inspector and Fire Chief recommended that the regixest be denied, their recommendation should be upheld. Councilman Britec.18i moved, seconded by Councilman Ari:zstrong, that permit be denied.. Motion passed unanimously. City Attorney McCarthy advised the Council that he understood hollov, Ule was available which would probably make the building fire proof. Councilman Fletcher moved a reconsideration of the matter that if the Building Inspector and Fire Chief were satisfied th,L.t the hollow tile would meet the requirements of the ordinance that the permit be granted. It was decided, f however, that it would not be necessary to bring, this matter befo°e the Council, that the Building Inspector could grant the permit if recuirements were met and the motion was withdravm. Mrs. Anna O'Dell appeared before the Council requesting permission to continue parltiiT; ".her trailer on a parkinglot owned` by Mr. Tammany. She said it vias neeeesany for her to sleep in the trailer but that she did not cook there. City Manager Plead explained to the Council that Plr8 . O'Dell had come to his office in regard to this matter anf.tha»t he had advised her that she was violating the ordinance and it rou16 be necessary for her to apneas before the Council. Mrs. O'Dell said she was planning to go to Monterey and, that she mould be here only two or three weeks lonC;er and tha.t it had. been impossible for her to find a room in tali ch to live. C
