MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 15, 1943 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. A. <br />Britechgi, E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, Louis Jenkins, Jr., d. W. McNulty, <br />Mayor F. D. Granger, and City Clerk R. S. Dodge, also present were City <br />Manager R. W. Mead, City Attorney P. A. McCarthy, Police Chief C. L. Collins, <br />Fire Chief M. E. Ryan and Building Inspector L. M. Duncan. , <br />Minutes of'mee'ting of February 1st were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Communication from Dr. Chas. 0. Gans, Director of San Mateo County D,epartme4t of <br />Public health and Welfare read. Clerk was instructed to inform the Department <br />whenever it special problem was com:�ng up at any council meetiing tar enough in <br />advance to enable the Health Department to provide a specialist in any parti- <br />oular service to appear at the meeting. <br />Communication from R. C. Tribune regarding changing name of Montgomery Street to <br />Winklebleek Street thanking the Council for their consideration read and <br />.I <br />ordered filed. <br />Request for permit to hold rummage sale received from Women's Society of Christian <br />Service of the Methodist Church, allowed on motion o! Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Communication received from Red Feather Products Co. expressing appreciation to the <br />Council for warm weleome.extended them, ordered filed. <br />`Resolution received from Senate CommittQ.ei,California Senate, regarding ways and <br />means of keeping expenditures to a minimum and elimination of all =necessary <br />aetipities tending to reduce taxes for the duration, and requesting a report <br />on or before March 15,.1943, read and referred to City Attorney McCarthy for <br />handling. <br />Attorney Menifee appeared before.Counell in regard to matter of Bus Line Franchise <br />advising that Mr. R. to Martin, proprietor, was contemplating purchase of a <br />bus line outside the city limits, also operating a service into residential <br />area of San Carlos. Mr. Menifee advised that Martin filed application with <br />the State Railroad Commission for franchise stating that he was not prepared <br />to offer bid for city franchise at this time. On motion o! Councilman Ander. <br />son, seconded by Councilman McNulty, matter was laid over and placed on agenda <br />for first meeting in March. <br />Frank Thompson appeared before Council asking that some action be taken to eliminate <br />flood conditions on Broadway. City Manager Mead reported the matter was under <br />study suggesting certain changes in relocation of water and sewer lines under <br />Jefferson Avenue Bridge to improve conditions, together with other chahges <br />contemplated. <br />Councilman Anderson stated Committee appointed to consider Post -War Program had not <br />held any meeting as yet, and suggested that a special Council meeting be called <br />0.' <br />D <br />0 <br />D <br />3 <br />to consider important matters, including the -flood conditions referred to, abovE. <br />Asextng was set for Wednesday evening, February 17th, at City Mana'Berle office <br />at 8:00 P.M. <br />L] <br />I <br />
