<br />Upon roll callthe following were present.: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. A. Britschgi,
<br />E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton,, Louis Jenkins., Jr., G. W. McNulty, Mayor F. D.

<br />City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Police Chief C. L. Collins, ire Chief M. E.
<br />Ryan, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, and County Health Inspector Emil Stein.
<br />Minutes of regular meeting' of February 15th were approved on motion of Councilman
<br />McNulty, seconded by Councilman Anderson.

<br />City Manager Mead submitted letter regarding communication received from Howard
<br />Gardner,, Assistant Secretary of the League of California Cities. Mr. Gardner
<br />attached copy of Assembly Bill No. 1672 concerning proposed legialation to set
<br />UP the sum of #5,000,000 to be expended for Civilian Defense purposes. Mr.
<br />"Gardner urged that the City contact our a'ssemblymen.In an effort to interest
<br />them in the passage of this bill. On motion of Councilmap Anderson, seconded
<br />by Councilman Britschgi, resolution will be prepared urging Assemblyman Call's
<br />assistance in the matter.

<br />Communication was read from,American Red Cross soliciting funds for the 1943 Drive.

<br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the sum of
<br />#200 was pledged.
<br />Communication was read from Mr. A. G. Lang. -Chief Engineer, Pacific Portland Cement
<br />Co., thanking the Council for authorizing the painting of the white line on
<br />Harbor Boulevard from Bayshore Highway to the Pacific Portland Cement Co. plant. J
<br />This�was ordered filed.
<br />City Manager submitted resignation received from Albert Oneto as member of the Parks
<br />and Recreation Committee necessary because of the fact that.Mr. Oneto had en-
<br />,

<br />tered the armed service of the Country. City Manager also reported his appoint-
<br />ment of Mr. O. S. Olsson for the unexpired term ending April 12, 1943s and also the
<br />appointment of Mr..Oleson to succeed himself for the term commencing.April 13, 4
<br />1943,. and expiring ,April 120 1947
<br />City Manager Mead'submitted,communioation regarding City Ordinance- No- 333 known as the
<br />'Weed Abatement.Ordinance, adopted March 14, 1932, and -to comply with the State
<br />Weed Abatement Act of 1915 ad amended and in effect January 1, 19,31, necessitating
<br />the appointment of'a Superintendent of Streets. Mr. Mead reported his appointment
<br />of Mr. Lisle Winter, effective March 1, 1943, the duties of which office will be p
<br />performed without additional compensation.
<br />Communication was read from Mrs. N'..L.,Miramontes, City Collector, submitting an
<br />offer from Louis and Oerafina Guinasso, 1618 Oak Street, Redwood City, to pur-
<br />chase Arb. Blk. 213, Lots 15-18, Legal Lots 31-38, Blk. 5, West Redwood, Sale
<br />Price #300.00, deposit paid 030.00, biklance to be paid at the rate of #10.00 per '
<br />month, 0 interest,full amount to be paid within two years. This communication
<br />was approved by the Real Estate Committee. On motion of Councilman Fletcher,
<br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, acceptance of this offer was approved.
