This. petition was ordered referred to the Traffic Study <br />Committee. <br />r <br />Councilman Anderson reported that the Priorities Committee had typed out a report whit: <br />had been handed to City Manager Mead for consideration and study. However, due t <br />press -of work, Mr. Mead requested that ihis matter. be laid over to the next meetin, <br />City Attorney McCarthy reported that the Railroad Commission had not as yet acted upon <br />the Redwood City Bus Line Franchise. On.motion of Councilman Jenkins, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, this matter was laid over to the next meeting. , <br />City Manager Mead reported that he had contacted the agent in charge of the vacant <br />property on El Camino Real near James with the view of obtaining same for a <br />parking lot but was unable to arrive at a satisfactory arrangement, recommending <br />that the matter be tabled for the present. This recommendation was accepted by <br />the Council. I <br />Resolution was offered by Councilman Anderson, Seconded by Councilman Hilton, covering <br />amendment to Personnel Rules making effective first-aid courses for all firemen <br />and policemen. Motion was unanimously carried on roll call. <br />Mayor Granger presented telegram which he hadcreceived from. ..Senator Sheridan Downey <br />stating that he would be at the -Palace Hotel in San Francisco for the 'week start- <br />ing April 19, at which time he would receive delegation from various cities and <br />communities to present, their individual problems such as housing, labor shortage, <br />food. :shortage, etc. City Manager was instructed to contget various agencies and <br />arrange data for presentation during that period. Delegation will be appointed ti <br />meet with the Senator to present such data. <br />Discussion on Municipal Band which failed to appear at the recent patriotic ceremonies <br />ti <br />resulting in Councilman Britschgi moving to disband the Municip$1 Band immediatel; <br />seconded by Councilman Hilton. Uniforms and instruments are to be turned in to <br />City Manager Mead for storage: <br />V <br />� councilman Fletcher commented on the bad condition of the Brewster Avenue Southern <br />Pacific crossing, stating further that the crossing gates in some localities were <br />equipped with electric lights whereas in Redwood City they were equipped with <br />'lantrns which necessitated slowing up traffic while placing lanterns in position. <br />City Manager Mead will take up this matter with the Southern Pacific Co. <br />0 <br />P <br />4 . <br />J <br />
