0 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 19, .1943 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. A. Britschgi, <br />E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, Louis Jenkins, Jr., G. W. McNulty, Mayor F. D. <br />Granger and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City D4anager R. W. Mead, <br />�Jt City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Police Chief Co L. Collins, Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, <br />City Collector N. L. Miramontes, Street Superintendent H. L. Winter, Building In - <br />spector L. M. Duncan, and County Health Inspector E. Stein. <br />Minutes of regular meeting of April 5 approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />Communication received from Mrs. Alfred Wa4er requesting permit to hold Public dance <br />at the Woman's Clubhouse May 8, requesting also that license be waived inasmuch as <br />funds derived were for the benefit of St. Peters Episcopal Church. Permit was <br />allowed on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hilton. <br />Communication received from Mrs. M. S. Long requesting permit to raise chickens and <br />rabbits on a six acre tract at 2012, Roosevelt Avenue for commercial'puxtposes. <br />�• �► Mr. E. G. Stein, Sanitary Inspector, inspected the premises and submitted a <br />3 favorable report. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Hilton, <br />permit was allowed:. <br />Communication received from Nelson M. Welbanks, general contractor, 15 Jeter Street, <br />offering a price of $4,500 on 13 lots located in Central Park. These lots were <br />advertised at a price aggregating $6,300. On motion of Councilman Hilton, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher, Mr. Welbanks' offer was denied and the Clerk was <br />instructed to return Mr. Welbanks' deposit check in amount $450.00. <br />City Manager Mead requested authority to purchase 86 bonds, series 47, Vera Avenue - <br />principal balance amounting to $2,549.22. The City owns lots in this area against <br />which there is a delinquency of $143.67 and has sold lots against which there is <br />a delinquency of $93 .81 or a total of $1,082.48. Realty Bond Service dovp. of <br />Los Angeles has offered to sell the entire block of 86 bonds for $750.00. On <br />motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Treasurer was <br />authorized to purchase the block of bonds enumerated above. <br />City Attorney McCarthy directed to prepare resolution covering acceptance of correction <br />in Real Estate Agreement with County of San Mateo. On motion of Councilman <br />Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Jenkins, resolution was adopted. <br />Report received from Traffic -Study Committee making the following recommendations: <br />1. °It was recommended that the sign posts for two-hour parking, which are being <br />put up in accordance with our previous recommendations, be not placed adjacenr: <br />to the property of the County Fire Department (on the south side of Marshall <br />from the driveway of the,fire department to the corner of Middlefield Road. <br />This matter has already been taken care of by Sergeant Thorpe)." No action <br />necessary on this recommendations. <br />i 2. "It was recommended that -one hour parking posts be placed before the Old Mill, <br />Flower Shop at 1025 El Camino Real.' On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconb <br />ed by Councilman Jenkins, recommendation was approved. <br />3. °It was decided to abide by the ruling of the Safety Commission of the Depart- <br />ment of Highways and the California Highway Patrol that -the hours of cperatiot <br />of Traffic lights on E1 Camino Real be left as they are at present.„ No action <br />necessary on this recommendation. <br />E <br />11 <br />C <br />
