4. "In response to the Council's request that the problem of parallel parking <br />on E1 Camino Real between Brewster and Broadway be studied a committee was <br />appointed to survey the situation and bring in a report at our next meeting. <br />Due consideration will be made of.the petition presented our committee and the <br />several letters which you passed on to me opposing this move." Clerk ordered <br />to place this matter -on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />Councilman Britschgi stated that several of the teachers were parking their cars on <br />Brewster Avenue. Property owners in the vicinity requested that cars be paxked <br />within*the high school grounds. Suggested that a,letter be written to Mr. Ronald <br />Anderson asking their co-operation in having these cars parked inside the high <br />school grounds. i <br />General discussion on conditions of several railroad crossings within the city re- <br />sulting in City Manager Mead agreeing to contact Southern Pacific Railroad once <br />more in an effort to have this condition corrected as soon as possible. This <br />matter to be placed on the agenda for further repdrt at the next meeting. <br />Councilman,Anderson, chairman of the Priorities Committee, stated: that their report <br />had been handed to Mr. Mead for checking. Mr. Meads comments have been re- <br />turned to the Committee and final report will be rendered at the next meeting. <br />Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, to place this on the <br />agenda for further report. <br />Matter of Bus Line Franchise again held over due to no action having been taken by the <br />Railroad Commission. Councilman Anderson -moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />this placed on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />City Attorney reported on the ordinance covering the dumping of rubbish in lots in <br />answer to request made by Councilman Britschgi, stating that the present Ordinancal <br />No. 339 contained penalties which should be sufficient to cover the situation. <br />After considerable discussion, it was decided that some sort of campaign should b3 <br />started in an effort to clean up the unsightly conditions of several of the vacanit <br />lots within the city limits. <br />City Manager Mead requested an additional allotment for the balance of this fiscal yea:, <br />in amount $400.00 for the Civilian Defense office, which amount was necessary due <br />to the fact that additional help is needed to prepare complete up-to-date person- <br />.. Y <br />1� nel records which are required by the National O.C.D. On motion of Councilman <br />Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Anderson this additional allowance for the <br />balance of this fiscal year was allowed. <br />City Attorney McCarthy explained to the Council the present status of the DeHoff lease <br />stating that no copy of lease has been found although Ordinance No. 411, adopted <br />in 1938, covered such a lease. In order to simplify the situation, City Attorney <br />has prepared another lease which he presented to the Council for consideration. <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, Seconded by Councilman Fletcher, lease was <br />'ordered execµted in accordance with Ordinance'No. 411 subject to the approval of <br />the Port Commission. <br />Under the question, Councilman Jenkins questioned DeHoff regarding the <br />operation of the boat ways on Sundays. Mr. DeHoff explained that it was not pro- <br />fitable to keep the ways open every Sunday, however, he was willing to operate th; <br />ways providing the boat owners would make arrangements with him a day or two in <br />advance.
