L] <br />I <br />7 <br />E7 <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Hilton, to rwind the previous motion. Vote on the <br />motion was ayes, ?F; noes, 2. On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by <br />Councilman Hilton, Mr. Jenkins' resignation was accepted to take effect immediate;Ly. <br />Motion carried by a 4.to,2 vote. Councilman Britschgi and Councilman Fletcher <br />voting nay. k r <br />Immediately following the passage of this motion, Mr. Jenkins took -his seat <br />at the side of the rostrum. Councilman,Hilton nominated Mr. Chester C. Armstrong <br />to fill the vacancy. On motion of Councilman,McNulty, seconded -by Councilman <br />Anderson, nominations were closed. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />Councilman Anderson Mr. Armstrong, <br />Councilman Britschgi Mr. McKeegan <br />Councilman Fletcher Mr. McKeegan <br />Councilman Hilton Mr. Armstrong <br />Councilman McNulty Mr. Armstrong <br />Councilman Granger Mr. Armstrong <br />As a result of this vote, Mr. Armstrong was declared the successor to fill out th.: <br />unexpired term of Mr.,Jenkins. <br />Claims No. 2598 to 26+5 inclusive, amounting to $8,895.22, were approved and ordered <br />paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by'Councilman Fletcher. <br />Mr. W. 0. Tyson, operator of the Byrnes Stone Quarry, appeared before. the Coundil <br />requesting that he be given consideration in the.purchase of materials -used in <br />improving parking lots at the Southern,Pacific:Depot. P <br />Mayor Granger suggested that the proprietor of the Top Hat Bar be cited to appear be- <br />fore the Council to show cause why his license should not be revoked.. The Mayor <br />stated his.conviction that the Council should take every steppossible�to make <br />conditions,el.ear,in an effort to keep down juvenile delinquency, as well as co- <br />operate fully with the Army and Navy during the war -time emergency. On motion of, <br />Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Mayor Granger's suggestion <br />was adopted and the owner of the Top Hat would be notified to appear at the next <br />meeting to discuss the charges which were reviewed by the'City Attorney and a <br />member of the District Attorneys office. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, monthly reports of <br />department heads were ordered filed. After considerable discussion concerning th <br />above reports, it was decided that copies of department heads, reports should be <br />prepared and mailed to each member of the Council monthly in order that they may <br />have an opportunity to study them at their leisure.
