MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 7, 1943 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. A.!Britschgi. <br />E. A. Fletcher, W. W. Hilton, G. W. McNulty, Mayor F. D. Granger, and City Clerk <br />R. S. Dodge; also present were City Manager R. W. Mead, City Attorney P. A. <br />McCarthy, Police Chief C:. L. Collins, Fire Chief 14. E. ,Ryan, Street Sliperintenden: <br />H. L. Winter, City Collector.N. L. Miramontes, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan <br />and Health Inspector Emil Stein. Absent, Councilman C. C. Armstrong. <br />On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty, minutes of previous <br />meeting were approved. <br />Mr. Peter Sorenson appeared before the Council relative to platform built in blind <br />street next to his yard. Mr. Sorenson was requested to write and request permit <br />to continue on the city property which communication will be referred to the City <br />°Attorney for his ruling. <br />Application for permission to raise chickens and rabbits commercially received from <br />Lawrence Am Herd was denied on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman Hilton. . <br />Application for restaurant license received from Yin Kin Lum at 513 Main Street on the <br />premises previously operated as the Star Cafe. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, permit was granted. <br />Application for dance permit received from Peninsula Lodge of Elks, No. 320 (Colored) <br />on June 23, 1943, at the Foresters Hall, granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman Anderson. <br />Communication received from Mrs. Catherine N. Mee, requesting permit to hold dance on <br />June 26, 1943, at the Guild. Hall of the St. Peters Church. Granted on, motion of <br />Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, with waiver of the regular <br />fee. <br />Application for restaurant license received from Thomas M. Ryan and Louis Paolino, <br />proprietors of the Top Hat bar, granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, second- <br />ed by Councilman Anderson. License fee has been paid.up to June 30, 1943. <br />Communication received from First Congregational Church signed by Andrew Spinas, <br />Moderator, and Charles L. Huyck, Clerk, protesting hourly parking rules it front <br />of or at the side of the church. On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by <br />Councilman Fletcher, the matter was referred to the Traffic Committee. <br />Communication received from California Mission Trails Association requesting donation <br />of 9100.00 for the fiscal year 1943 to 1944 referred to the Chamber of Commerce <br />on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Communication received from Ronald S. Anderson, Chairman of the Traffic Study Committee, <br />recommending that parallel parking be installed along both sides of El Camino <br />Real between Broadway and Brewster and that the State be requested to paint the <br />appropriate lines. On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, City Manager was directed to carry out the recommendation as offered. <br />Under the question Co+tncilman Fletcher stated that he was not in favor with this <br />i <br />
