W. Colebred of South San Francisco, <br />requesting that representative of this city attend a meeting on Tuesday evening, <br />June 22nd, to discuss and consider provisions of the curfew ordinance. On motion <br />of Councilman Armstrorg, seconded by Councilman Hilton, City Attorney,McCarthy, <br />a representative of the Police Department, and as many Councilmen as could <br />were requested to attend the meeting in South San Francisco. <br />Mr. H. C. Seipel, Peninsula District Manager of Fox West Coast Theatres, submitted a <br />letter and appeared before the Council asking that consideration be,given in the <br />preparation of a curfew ordinance to legitimate amusements Ruch as theatres, <br />softball games, private dances, etc., to permit 'juveniles to attend such affairs <br />and return home without interferring with enforcement of .the ordinance. <br />Communications were received from the Exchange Club, Sequoia High School and the <br />Redwood City Business and Professional Women's Club, urging early adoption of a <br />curfew ordinance. <br />After general discussion of the curfew ordinance, it was decided to place <br />the matter on the agenda for the next meeting, at which time the City Attorney <br />will make -recommendations after attending the meeting of Peninsula Cities in SoutA <br />San Francisco.' <br />Mr. Andrew Spinas, representing the San Mateo County Council of Social <br />,Agencies appeared and spoke in favor of the curfew law. Police Chsef Collins in <br />answer to questions from the Councilmen stated that the curfew ordinance would be <br />a good thing and would be workable, but he believed that such ordinances should <br />be drawn up to allow children attending a legitimate amusement to proceed to <br />their homes without interferring with curfew ordinance. Chief Collins also <br />suggested that some plan of registration should be put in effect to cover wayward: <br />children from other cities being placed in boarding homes in this city. <br />Matter of citation of Mr. Ralph Brooks, proprietor of Top Hat Bar, to appear before <br />the Council was ordered dropped from the agenda inasmuch as new proprietors <br />Thomas N: Ryan and Louis Paolino have taken over the business. <br />Communication was received from•Mr. H. H. Weiner regarding the removal of the gas <br />station building located on Lot 1, Block 1, Lenolt Tract, stating that"the <br />building was_ormed by -Mr. Archibald. Mr. Weiner. -stated that he had notified Mr. <br />Archibald to remove the building but he understood Mr. Archibald was out of <br />town. Inasmuch as original permit was granted to Mr. Weiner, Councilman <br />Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that condemnation proceedings <br />r ' <br />be started immediately. Motion carried. <br />Affidavit of publication of Ordinance No. 499, Salary Ordinance, was ordered filed on <br />motion of Councilman.MeNulty, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Salary Ordinance No. 499 was adopted upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty and unanimous roll call. <br />Affidavit of publication of ordinance No. 490, changing the name of certain streets <br />0 <br />6 <br />was ordered filed on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman MeNultr. e <br />
