MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 19; 1943 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />Upon 'roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, C. C. Armstrong, <br />,r <br />C. A. Britschgi, E. A.'01etcher, W. W. Hilton, G. W. McNulty, Mayor F. D. 'Granger, <br />and City Glerk`R. S. Dodge; also present were City Manager R. W. Mead, City <br />Attorney?. A. McCarthy, Police Chief C. L. Collins, Fire Chief M. E. Ryan, Street <br />Superintendent H. L. Winter, City Collector Ni L. Miramontes, Building Inspector <br />L. M. Duncan and Health Inspector -M. Rothchild: <br />Minutes of' regular meeting of July 6th and special meeting of July 12th were approved <br />I <br />n motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty. •- <br />Application for dance permit received from Court Madrone No. 155, F. of A., for <br />Saturdays'July 24th and July 31st. Permit granted on motion of Councilman <br />Anderson, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Permit granted to Eldon S. Alzco to hold dance on Wednesday July 25th, on motion of <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, subject to approval of <br />Chief of Police. <br />Communication read from City Attorney McCarthy relative to parallel parking on north <br />side of Broadway between El CaVitno Real and Arch Street, on the northeasterly <br />side of Arch between Broadway and Brewster, and on the southerly side of <br />Brewster between El Camino Real and Arch, advising that Ordinance No. 455,' <br />adopted July 219 1941 was sufficient to cover the situation. City Attorney <br />suggested motion requiring Police Department to Indicate by painting lines where <br />parallel parking is required on streets above named. On motion of Councilman <br />Anderson, -seconded by Councilman Hilton, City Manager Mead was directed to take <br />care of the matter. <br />Replies having been received from only three organizations nominating members to the <br />Traffic Study Committee, Clerk was instructed to write to the balance of this <br />group requesting that they send in the names of their nominees. <br />Mr. Joseph Corbett appeared before the Council to take -oath of office as member of the <br />Personnel Board of Review, after which he was welcomed by the members -with a few <br />well-chosen words. <br />Mr. James O'Gara, 111 Circle Road, appeared before the Council requesting some im- <br />provement in the surfacing of the street which he claimed had become hazardous <br />and in need of repair. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />Anderson, City Manager was requested to take care of this matter in so far as is <br />possible without incurring too great a expense. <br />Mr. Lovell also appeared before the Council and asked that „ if possible, the <br />street be widen about four feet. It was suggested that possibly the property <br />owners would meet part of the expense of fixing up this street and City Manager <br />Mead was directed to investigate this. <br />Mr. Peter Barz, 152 Westgate, appeared before the Council requesting permission to have <br />an additional gas meter installed in his house to take care of an additional <br />family. Building Inspector Duncan advised that he had refused to clear this <br />Installation due to the fact that this residence was located in a first-class <br />r1I <br />I$ <br />a <br />A <br />I <br />
