Under the question Councilman Armstrong <br />stated that he was opposed to forcing in any adjacent property stating that he <br />would not vote for the annexation as long as the additional property was in - <br />eluded in the motion. He gave as his reason for this stand the fact that there <br />were several pieces of unimproved industrial property which were inside the city <br />limits and he did not propose to vote on the proposition which would force proper'�y <br />owners to allow any of their property to become annexed against their wishes. <br />✓ Mr. McCarthy stated that Mr. Carscallen cont.-.mplated, at a later date, <br />purchasing additional property which was included,'Anthe annexation proceedings. <br />Aftdr considerable discussion, original motion carried, Councilman Armstrong <br />voting no for reasons mentioned above. <br />;,,,,WAffidavit of publication of curfew ordinance was ordered filed on motion of Councilman <br />McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hilton. On motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Armstrong, curfew ordinance was adopted on roll call. <br />Councilman Anderson absent. This being an emergency ordinance, same becomes <br />effective at 12 midnight as of this date. <br />Affidavit of publication of subdivision ordinance was published in the Redwood City <br />%{ Tribune in error as ordinance had not been introduced. City Attorney McCarthy <br />t/ explained that ordinance would be republished after same had been formally <br />introduced by the Council. <br />On motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Hilton, sub- <br />division ordinance will be considered at the next meeting after the changes <br />suggested by the Council had been accepted by the Planning Commission and in- <br />corporated in their resolution. <br />Affidavit of publication of Southern Pacific Depot traffic ordinance ordered filed on <br />motion of CouncAman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. On motion -of <br />Councilman Hilton, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, Southern Pacific Traffic <br />Ordinance was adopted on roll call. Councilman Anderson absent:. <br />The proposed ordinance governing sale of unsafe electrical appliances was discussed <br />, <br />at length. City Manager Mead stated that he had studied same and that he was in <br />favor of an ordinance prepared along the lines of the suggested ordinance. City <br />Attorney McCarthy and Building Inspector Duncan both stated they were in favor <br />of such. an ordinance. Mayor Granger, Councilman Britschgi and Councilman <br />Armstrong were not in favor of such an ordinance until such time as the local <br />merchants had been invited to consider the matter so that the Council might get <br />their reaction. On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />matter was referred to the Merchants' Committee of the Chamber of Commerce for <br />their recommendation. <br />.City Attorney McCarthy reported he had contacted Mr. Martin of the Redwood City bus <br />line who had promised to report at this meeting if possible in regard to financia:L <br />statements, however Mr. Martin's accountant has been ill and was unable to comple'�e <br />same. This matter placed on agenda for next meeting. <br />Resolution fixing charge for reporting on city taxes and assessments furnished Title <br />companies was introduced.
