• <br />bottles belonged to the Peninsula Creamery in Palo Alto and suggested <br />that a letter be written to them asking them to, stop the ,practice. City <br />Manager Mead advised he would, contact the milk company. <br />' City Attorney McCarthy asked if the Council would be interested in endorsing <br />or opposing bills which the League of California Cities had suggested in <br />one of their news letters. Councilman Anderson offered a resolution <br />and moved its adoption opposing Senate Bill No. 1506 which provides that <br />cities preliminary budgets be presented to a budget analyst committee <br />' of the State Board of Equalization. The motion was seconded by Council- <br />man Brit-schgi and on roll call was unanimously adopted. <br />• <br />1 <br />0 <br />The next bill under discussion was Assembly Bill 803, adopting zoning ordinance <br />regarding areas around airports, for which the League requested the <br />approval of the Council. City Attotmey McCarthy explained that.this bill <br />merely was an enabling act to allow the cities to zone such areas. <br />Councilman Granger offered a resolution and moved its adoption approving <br />Assembly Bill 803. The motion was seconded by Councilman Anderson and <br />on roll call was unanimously adopted. <br />The League requested approval of Assembly Bill 1531 controlling rebuilding by <br />private developers of blighted areas, slums, etc. Councilman Armstrong <br />was of the opinion that this bill was proposed primarily for larger <br />cities,, in which opinion City Attorney McCarthy concurred but stated that <br />by endorsing it It might help a sister city even though it would not <br />affect this city. Councilman Anderson offered resolution and moved its <br />adoption approving Assembly Bill 1531. The motion was seconded by Council- <br />man McNulty and on roll call was,unanimously adopted. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised that copies of the resolutions would be <br />forwarded to our State Assemblyman and Senator and to the League. <br />Councilman Granger brought out the fact that some time ago he had inquired <br />about various booster pumps and whether they were of any further use to <br />the city. City Manager Mead advised that he has the list of these pumps <br />but had not had time to,study it. <br />Councilman Granger advised that on Memorial Day a Dr. White was coming to <br />Redwood Ckty as a guest on the program being prepared for that day and <br />asked if it would be possible for the city to provide transportation for <br />him. City Manager Mead advised that the city would do so. <br />Claims No- 540 to 5489 inclusive in the amount of '03360.80 were approved and <br />ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Britschgi offered resolution and moved its adoption adjourning <br />meeting out of respect to the memory of Lt. Victor L. Kandel who lost <br />his life in the service of his country. A copy of the resolution is to <br />11 <br />
