Motion passed unanimously.
City Manager Blom reported on request of subdividers of Redwood Manor to purchase
city property containing abandoned well. He,advised that this subdivision
is in the southerly part of the Friendly Acres Tract and the city owns a
piece of property 50 x 300 which was purchased several years ago as a site
for a well. The well has been abandoned and the equipment removed. He
advised it would be necessary to advertise the sale of this property. He
l
also stated that there were certain things which the city wished in return
for the sale of the property, one being an easement between two of the
corner lots which will give access to the future possible conneotion of the if
Hetoh Hetchy main and inconneotion with the easement a small area should
be acquired in which a meter box and tool shed could be located for the
maintenance of that line. He recommended that he be authorized to go ahead
with the procedure. Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman Arm-
strong.. that the City Manager be instructed to proceed with the necessary
procedure to dispose of this property. Motion passed unanimously.
City Manager Blom also advised that this subdivider has asked that the city
supply water to this subdivision. The city now has a request which would
necessitate running 600 or 700 feet of line. City Attorney McCarthy read
contract entered into with Mr. Canine and expressed the opinion that the
city is bound to furnish water even though it is inconvenient inasmuch as
the city got the easement with that provision and no time limit was placed
on the contract.
City Attorney McCarthy advised that he had filed a condemnation suit for the
recreational area and asked that an appraiser be appointed. Councilman
Armstrong moved,,seconded by Councilman Anderson, that Mr. Lawrence Heiner
r
a
