,_ <br />180 .r <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING / <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL` <br />JANUARY 70 1946 y <br />8:00 -P.M. <br />On roll call the following were present: Councilmen Harold F..Anderson, "C! <br />0. C. Armstrong, E. A. Fletcher, Floyd D. Granger, George W. McNulty, <br />Mayor W. W. Hilton, and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Inspector L. M. Duncan <br />Police Chief 0. L. Oollins, Acting Fire Ohief J. Lodi, Street Superin- <br />tendent H. L. Winter, Acting City Engineer Charles Randlett and Health <br />Inspector Royal Hodge. Apeent: Councilman Carl Britschgi and City <br />1 <br />Manager E. W. Blom. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, minutes of pre- <br />vious meeting be approved as mailed. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Applicatign'for dance permit was received from Yvonne Schlichtmann for <br />Wednesday evenings, January 9, and 16, until 12:00 Midnight, fee having <br />been paid. Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, <br />that the permit be granted subject to usual restrictions. Motion <br />passed unanimously. (a) <br />Application was received from Court Madrone No. 158, F. of A., for dances to <br />be conducted Saturdays, January 12 and 19, until 12:00 midnight, benefit <br />dances, Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that <br />i <br />the permits be granted subject to the usual conditions. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Communication was received from 0. F. Malerbi, 16 Jeter Street, calling atten- <br />tion to the pavement in front of his home which has a high crown which has <br />resulted in rooks becoming loosened at the edges. He asked•that it be <br />scraped to prevent an accident from a flying rock, Councilman Anderson <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the communication be referred <br />to the City Manager. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from the Sequoia Cab Company and addressed to the <br />Redwood City Traffic Oommission requesting permission to establish taxi - <br />stand at the corner of Broadway and Winslow. City Attorney McCarthy �. <br />called attention to the fact that in the proposed taxicab ordinance matters <br />of this nature were to be referred to the Planning Commission. In view <br />of this, the communication was referred to the Oity Manager to be referred <br />to the proper officials. <br />Councilman Britsohgi entered the meeting. <br />I <br />Report was received signed by Building Inspector L. N. Duncan, Acting Fire Chief <br />Joe. Lodi and Health Inspector Broil Stein regarding Health and Safety <br />violations at 154 Opal Street and recommending abatement of the camp cook <br />wagon which was being inhabited. In reply as to the procedure to follow <br />to immediately abate the nuisance, City Attorney McCarthy replied that he <br />was pf tie opinion that the O.P.A. had some jurisdiction over any tenancy <br />and that he believed it would be proper to ask the O.P.A. to notify the <br />tenant to vacate after which the'city could take steps to abate the <br />nuisance Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />,r <br />that the letter be referred to the proper administrative official to <br />
