Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />i <br />Communication was received signed by eight residents of Jeter Street protesting <br />to the owner of the Sequoia Cab.Company parking more than one cab in front <br />of their homes, claiming that with the number of cabs parked there, no <br />room was left for anyone else to park. Mrs. Hannigan, one of the signers <br />of the letter, appeared and stated that the parking of these cabs was an <br />annoyance. In answer to Mayor HiltonIs question as to whether provision <br />was made in the proposed ordinance to cover matters of this kind, City <br />Attorney McCarthy advised that the ordinance provided for premises•to be <br />�f approved by the Chief of Police which he assumed meant in the,business <br />district. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, <br />that the complaint be referred to the Police Department as to the activi- <br />ties carried on at this location. Under the question, Councilman Granger <br />asked that the Chief of Police take action before the next meeting. <br />Councilman Armstrong explained that was the intent of his motion. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Britsohgi asked if it were possible to prohibit parking of oars <br />in front of residences all day long. City Attorney McCarthy expressed <br />the opinion that it could not very easily be done inasmuch as it did not <br />violate any ordinance and it would be a difficult thing to enforce. Mayor <br />Hilton brought out the fact that there was a provision in the ordinance <br />s which prohibited parking on any street in the town for over an hour between <br />the hours of 1:30 A. M. and 6:00 A. M. Chief Collins reported that this <br />Y <br />provision of the ordinance was now being enforced after having been <br />relaxed during the war. <br />Communication was received from A. J. Williamson requesting approval of'the <br />erection and operation of a sales,office and an animal manure processing <br />plant on Bayshore Highway opposite the Red Feather Products, Inc. The <br />type of animal manure to be used is chicken which will be brought to the <br />plant site in covered trucks and in a dry condition. At no time will <br />there be any stock piling in the open. Mr. Williamson presented a sample <br />of the fertilizer and also a sketch of the proposed buildings. Councilman <br />Armstrong asked in what zone this location was and was advised that it <br />was zonedtfbr bueiness.,,aln answer to Councilman Armstron's question as..to <br />whether this establishment would be permitted under the ordinance, City <br />Attorney McCarthy replied that. it would unless a nuisance existed. He <br />advised that a fertilizer establishment had been located in that district <br />sometime ago and had been abated for being a nuisance. He explained that <br />in event it did prove to be a nuisance it could always be abated. The <br />general consensus of the Council was, there would be no objection to the <br />plant. Mr. Williamson explained the processing of the fertilizer and <br />said no dust was caused in the process.
