18 <br />advised this was in the second residential district. Building Inspector <br />Duncan advised this was the first application for a green house which he <br />had received since becoming building inspector but he understood that the <br />Council had denied permits to Japanese before the war for this purpose.. <br />Councilman Anderson moved that the City Clerk -be instructed to write Mr. <br />Ramacciotti advising him this district is in the second residential dis- <br />trict and denying the permit. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher and passed unanimously. <br />Announcement of Peninsula Division of the League of California Cities meeting <br />to be held June 260 1945, was held over to the next meeting. <br />Cotmunication was received from E. W. Butler, Manager of the Chamber•:of <br />Commerce, submitting completed hospital survey made by Dr. Thomas <br />R. Ponton, Editor of Hospital Management, which contained Dr. Ponton's <br />recommendations. Statement in the amount of 0379.23 was also attached <br />covering the cost of this suvey. Councilman Armstrong offered resolu- <br />ttion and moved its adoption authorizing the payment of this survey, to <br />be charged to the contingent reserve, and expressing appreciation to <br />the Chamber of Commerce for securing the services of Dr. Ponton at such <br />a nominal cost. The motion was seconded by Councilman Britschgi and on <br />roll call resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved that the matter of the survey be placed on <br />the agenda for further discussion at the next meeting of thef`Council. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Fletcher and passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Butler addressed the Council stating that he was of the opinion <br />that the Community Detrelopment Section of the Chamber of Commerce would <br />welcome an opportunity to meet with the Council or a committee of the <br />Council after the members had had an opportunity to read the report. <br />It was suggested by Councilman Armstrong that the Community Development <br />Section of the Chamber of Commerce meet with the Court it at its next. <br />meeting, however, it was thought better to wait until later so that all <br />would have a better opportunity to study the report,. <br />Mr. Alvin H. Silva appeared before the Council protesting a chicken nuisance <br />next door to his home at 246 Grand Street. He said the chicken house is <br />built over the cit right of er <br />y g ay and is right next to the fence. Health <br />Inspector Stein reported that one of the health inspectors had just <br />inspected the premises and reported no public health violations. Mayor <br />'s <br />Hilton asked Mr. Skein to make a further inspection. <br />Councilman Granger asked that the report of the sign committee be placed on <br />the agenda of the next meeting as they were not ready to report at this <br />time. <br />Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Mcriulty, that the abatement <br />proceedings of the Rice, Hollenbaugh, J.
