Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Hilton.asked the status of the abatement proceedings against property le -
Bated 914 Brewster,Avenue. City Attorney McCarthy advised there had
been no compliance with instructions issued to Mrs. Smith and that he had
written to Mrs. Smith reminding her of her promise to abate the nuisance
within thirty days or that she would authorize the fire department to do
it at her expense. He advised he had notified her to answer within five
days and had received no reply. He said the Council could authorize the
fire department to clean the premises and the charge could be made a lien
against the property. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman
Armstrong that immediate action be taken to do this work. Under the
question, Councilman Britechgi, was of the opinion that the work should
be done by a private party rather than the fire department.
