r <br />Councilman Fletcher advised that he had received a complaint in regard to <br />chickens at King and Jeter, Health Inspector Hodge advised that he had <br />told the occupants they could keep chickens there in accordance with the <br />ordinance. He said he would make.another check as to the compliance <br />with the ordinance. Councilman Armstrong believed the chickens should <br />be removed from the first residential district in which opinion Council- <br />man Fletcher concurred. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Council- <br />man Fletcher, that the city attorney be prepared to present at the next <br />meeting of the council a revision of the ordinance to return it to its <br />pre-war status. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Armstrong brought out the fact that several meetings ago the Council <br />had approved a recommendation of the Traffic Study Committee outlining a <br />new loading zone for the Martin Transportation System, among which was <br />that the B bus would be rerouted to avoid left hand at Broadway and El <br />Camino Real and that the Shell Station would not be used as a loading <br />_ zone. He said neither.of the recommendations had been carried out inas- <br />mucl as Mr. Martin objects to the rerouting and asked that the matter be <br />referred to the city manager to see if the city can enforce the recom- <br />mendations. Councilman Armstrong asked the Chief of Police -if it were <br />legal for the bus to make the left hand turn on to El Camino Real in the <br />manner done. Chief Collins advised there was no law against it. City <br />Attorney McCarthy expressed the opinion that in the matter of routing <br />the bus the Railroad Commission would have to pass on that but he be- <br />lieved the city had jurisdiction over where the bus made stops. The <br />matter was placed on the agenda of the next meeting four a report from <br />the city manager. <br />Mayor Hilton appointed an Underpass Committee to study ways and means of pro- <br />viding an underpass on Broadway and also to study the question of the, <br />freight depot of the Southern Pacific. The committee follows: Coun- <br />oilmen Britschgi and Fletcher, County Engineer' M. A. Grant, 0, S Oleson, <br />® Willis Ayer, John Ryan, Albert H. Morgan, Jr. and Joseph H. Territo. <br />City Manager E. W. Blom and City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy were appoin- <br />ted as advisory members. <br />Mayor Hilton appointed business license committee composed of the following: <br />Councilmen Granger, Armstrong, City Manager E. W. Blom and City Attor- <br />ney Paul A. McCarthy. <br />Claims No. 6121 to 6141 in the amount of $16,912.26 were approved and ordered <br />paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by douncilman Fletcher <br />with the exception of the claim for commission to.be paid to A. W. Palm <br />for sale of city lots. Councilman McNulty was of the opinion that one <br />claim was allowed for 3,� commission but that hence forth 216 commission <br />was to be paid. It was decided the minutes of the meeting should be <br />checked to determine the final action. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Anderson offered resolution and moved adoption adjouning meeting <br />out of respect to the memory of Lt.
