This would raise the fee e charged <br />from $10 per annum but he believed it was necessary because of increased <br />police protection needed. He moved introduction of the taxicab ordinance, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, several of the <br />taxicab representatives spoke, their main objection to the ordinanceI <br />1 being the installing of meters which they claimed were difficult to ob- <br />tain and keep in repair. They asked that the matter be held over until q <br />Mr. Cacoamo, partner in the Yellow Cab who is in the hospital following �. <br />an accident, can appoint a spolesman. After some discussion in regard <br />3 <br />to the rates to be oharged, City Attorney McCarthy advised that it might <br />be advisable to add a provision to the ordinance providing that until <br />meters are installed the present zone charges should be followed. <br />Councilman Anderson was of the opinion it would be better to continue the <br />matter until the next meeting and have the zone rates set up until meters <br />can be installed. Councilman Armstrong withdrew his motion. Councilman <br />Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the City Attorney <br />�. and City Manager be instructed to prepare a zone rate to be applicable �I <br />until meters are installed and a copy of the pr'opsed rate be available in <br />the City Manager's office for any taxicab representative, and a discus- ?' <br />sion of these rates be held at the next meeting. Miction was seconded i <br />by Councilman McNulty and passed unanimously, <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised that he had notified the O.P.A. and sent them <br />1 a copy of the Health Department's recommendation in regard to abatement v) <br />of camp wagon at 154 Opal Street. To date he has not heard from them <br />I 'I <br />and asked that the matter be carried on the agenda. <br />Affidavit of notices sent to property owners within 175 feet of property on <br />G <br />which there is an application to erect a smoke house at Hilton and <br />Cassia Streets was filed on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by <br />Councilman Anderson. Motion passed unanimously. A Mrs. Garcia spoke <br />Ik against the smoke house being allowed on the basis that it would be a Al <br />1� detriment to the surrounding property. Mr. Si111man, the applicant, <br />asked to be allowed to erect the building and if there were any com- <br />plaints he would remove.it. After more discussion in the matter, Council- <br />man Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the protests <br />of residents be recognized and that the matter be carried on the agenda ' <br />to permit the City Manager to have an opportunity to investigate the <br />I <br />'j matter and bring back a report. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Ernest Wilson,,attorney for 0. S. Oleson, appeared before the Council and <br />presented several resolutions:in regard to Broadway No. 3 subdivision. rlM1. <br />The first resolution presented was Resolution of Intention to Close <br />d <br />Alleys in Block 32 Broadway Map No. 1. It was explained this was shown •,� <br />on Map No. 2 which was never filed. The plans now call for a service <br />street to be installed instead of the alley.
