He also was of the opinion that a city engineer <br />should be appointed rather than continue operating on the basis of acting' <br />city engineer. <br />Councilman Armstrong asked for action to be taken at the next meeting of the'f <br />Council in regard to repealing emergency provisions in regard to the civil <br />service system, one being the period of emergency employment being increased <br />to 180 days from 90 days, and the other the increase inihe age of fireman <br />i <br />and policemen from 32; to 35 years. He stated.he would like to see both <br />y <br />matters restored to the original status. City Manager Blom expressed the <br />opinion that because of the amendments being effective for six months after <br />the end of the war, he believed they would automatically be cancelled on r` <br />February 14. <br />Mayor Hilton appointed a committee to meet with Mr. Ludwig Werder in regard to <br />discussion of the proposed spur track. The committee is composed of <br />Councilmen Anderson, McNulty and Granger. Ir") <br />Mayor Hilton advised that a meeting of the Underpass Committee would be held <br />during the coming week. <br />Councilman McNulty questioned purchases from Minto Motor Company, in Burlingame. <br />City Manager Blom replied that it was necessary to purchase all Ford parts <br />and cars from out of town because of Kendall Towne being a member of the <br />Port Commission. In regard to purchasing red rock from L. Q. Smith in San <br />Mateo, he advised that the quality of red rock had been poor but he had <br />i� <br />been advised that one of the suppliers in the city had just opened a new L:V-! <br />quarry. Councilman McNulty moved Claims No. 6409 to 6456 in the amount of <br />$8,566.21 be approved and ordered paid, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Motion passed unaiiirpously. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 268 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING DIAGRAM OF ASSESSMENT UNDER RESOLUTION OF <br />INTENTION No. 1945-3, AND DESIGNATING NEWSPAPER FOR PUBLICATION <br />OF NOTICE OF FILING ASSESSMENT AND TIME FIXED FOR HEARING THEREON. <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City, County of San <br />Mateo, State of California, that the diagram of assessment under Resolution <br />of Intention No. 1945-3, passed and adopted by the Council of the City of <br />Redwood City on the 16th day of April, 1945, as said diagram has been pre- <br />pared by CHARLES E.
