210 <br />If the Council desires to do so. He believed the City was fully protected. <br />The motion passed unanimously. <br />Application for restaurant license was received from Lawrence and Cleo Jantz- <br />to conduct a restaurant at 2015 El Camino Real. This location was formerly <br />known as the Five Points Hotel. The Health Department has been norified to <br />inspect the premises. Councilman Fletcher moved granting of permit sub- <br />ject to the approval of the Health Department. Health Inspector Hodge re- <br />ported that he had inspected the bar in connection with the restaurant <br />which needs some improvement but that he had not as yet inspected the res- <br />taurant. Councilman Armstrong seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br />Application for restaurant license was received from Harry A. Morris (colored) <br />to conduct a restaurant at 2303 E1 Camino Real. This was formerly the <br />Two Friends Cafe. Councilman Armstrong asked if the Police Department had <br />any report to make in regard to.this permit being granted. Chief Collins <br />reported that the.new applicant had no police record. Councilman Armstrong <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that the permit be granted subject <br />to the approval of the Health Department -and Police Department. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from Albert Bevilockway requesting permit for the <br />operation of an•ice skating rink to be located on E1 Cam:ino•Real just north <br />of.the Fox Shoppe. The communication stated that the project had the ap- <br />proval of the City Manager, Police Chief, Fire Chief and Building Inspector. <br />A drawing of the location of the rink was presented. Also requested was <br />a permit for diagonal parking adjacent to the rink. City Attorney <br />McCarthy advised this location was within the business district. City <br />Manager Blom advised that in order to change some of the parking it was <br />necessary to get the approval of the State Highway Department. Councilman <br />Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the permit be granted <br />if there is no objection on the part of the City Manager,•Police and Fire <br />Departments with the exception of the diagonal parking. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the park- <br />ing matter be referred to the Traffic Study Committee: Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Communication was received from City Manager Blom advising that the term of Mr. <br />Gene Hoffman on the Board of Review expired on January 15, 1946. council- <br />man Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that Mr. Hoffman be <br />reappointed to the Board of Review for a term of six years. Motion passed <br />unpnimously. <br />Communication was received from the Recreation Commission approving a recommen- <br />dation that the City Council accept the gift of eight lots given'by Mr. and <br />Mrs. Daniel Stafford and also recommending that some improvement in this <br />property be started by August 1, 1946. The Commission further recommended <br />that the City Council approve the employment of Mr. William Gladstone <br />Merchant of San Francisco, or other man of equal ability, to plan the de- <br />velopment of the recreational areas of Redwood City.
