Councilman Granger changed <br />his motion to ninety days and further changed it to no fixed time but that <br />M,,;I the City Manager be empowered to allow them ninety days. Councilman McNulty <br />1�j�: seconded the motion. Councilman Britschgi expressed the opinion that if Mr. <br />y <br />Randlett were doing the work of the City Engineer he should be paid on that <br />basis. City Manager Blom stated hw would like to bring in a recommendation <br />�13 <br />ij. that the City Engineer be included under civil service and an examination <br />held for the position at which time Mr. Randlett would have an opportunity <br />to take the examination. The motion passed unanimously. <br />0 City Attorney McCarthy advised that it would be necessary for the City Clerk <br />i to present election officers and precencts at the next meetin of the <br />'i <br />Council. <br />Councilman Fletcher was excused from the meeting. <br />Ci Claims No. 6459 to 6505, inclusive, in the amount of $8326.96 were approved and <br />S ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi, Motion passed unanimously. <br />I <br />'I Councilman Granger offered resolution adjouning meeting out of respect to the <br />memory of PFO Ernest Louis Wheeler who lost his life while in the service <br />of his country. <br />wI R E S O L U T I O N <br />j RESOLVED that this meeting of the City Council of the City of Redwood <br />City adjoun in memory of PFO Ernest Louis Wheeler, a resident of this city <br />who entered into the service of his country, and who made the supreme <br />sacrifice in the defense,thereof and in the preservation of our national <br />principles. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the City forward to the family <br />of the late PFC Wheeler a copy of this resolution and that the same be <br />d, recorded in the official minutes of the meeting of the City Council. <br />221 <br />Councilman Armstrong offered introduction of ordinance repealing amendment to <br />i' <br />Personnel Ordinance providing for period of emergency employment being in- <br />creased from 90 days to 180 days. The ordinance provides that such period <br />of employment shall revert back to 90 days. Councilman Britschgi seconded <br />the motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Attorney McCarthy presented ordinance disfranchising the City Engineer and <br />• <br />City Attorney as members of commissions. There was some discussion as to <br />whether this should not be a charter amendment. Councilman Granger moved, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty „ that the matter be carried on the agenda <br />with the idea of making it a charter amendment. Motion passed unanimously. <br />i <br />Councilman Britschgi offered resolution reinstating original special qualifica- <br />tion for firemen and police patrolmen under the Personnel System of the <br />l� <br />city. City Attorney McCarthy advised that it would be necessary to post <br />this resolution on the bulletin board for five days before final presents - <br />tion. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the sum of $100, which had been donated to the <br />Community Chest to administer and which they were unable to accept under <br />their articles of incorporation'i be transferred to the Red Cross provided <br />they will administer the funds.
