234 <br />nel"System of this City, as appended to and made apart of the Rules for <br />Personnel Administration heretofore adopted by this Council, be and they <br />are hereby reinstated and re-established as originally adopted, and that <br />the relaxation thereof heretofore authorized for the emergency of the war <br />period by and the same is hereby rescinded. <br />I' <br />be granted for a period of one week provided that the trailer is approved <br />The above and foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting <br />bpi <br />of the City Council on February 4, 1946, on the motion of Councilman) <br />facilities at a nearby filling station. He advised it had been the <br />to -wit: February 1-3th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and until 8:00 o'clockl�p.m., <br />of February 18th, was passed and adopted by said City Council on said 18th <br />day of February, 1946, by the following vote: <br />quest for aid from the chief of the outside fire department. Calls were also <br />AYES: Councilmen: ARMSTRONG, BRITSCHGI, FLETCHER; GRANGER, MCNULTY <br />and HILTON. <br />NOES: Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT: Councilmen: ANDERSON <br />W. W. HILTON <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br />Application was received from L. J. Milburn to conduct a children's ride at E1 <br />Camino Real and Chestnut Street for a period of one week. Permission was <br />also requested to use a trailer for sleeping purposes only for that period. <br />Councilman Granger by Councilman McNulty, that the <br />moved, seconded permit <br />I' <br />be granted for a period of one week provided that the trailer is approved <br />by the health department and that arrangements be made to use sanitary <br />facilities at a nearby filling station. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Manager Blom asked the Council's wishes in regard to the City Fire Department <br />�j <br />responding to fires outside of the city limits. He advised it had been the <br />custom to respond to calls from other Peninsula cities on receiving a re- <br />quest for aid from the chief of the outside fire department. Calls were also <br />answered from the Pacific Portland Cement Company, Plant Rubber and Asbestos <br />Company and Johns -Manville Company. It was the recommendation of the Fire <br />Chief and City Manager that the city continue to answer such calls. Council- <br />man Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the recommendation <br />f' <br />of the City Manager and Fire Chief be concurred in. Motion passed unanimously. <br />In regard to the application to close an alley in Broadway No. 3, protests were <br />received from the P. G. & E. and Joint Pole Association. A letter had been <br />written to the P. G. & E. by Kirkbride and Wilson, Attorneys at Law, in re- <br />gard to the protest. It was the understanding of Kirkbride and Wilson that <br />this protest would be withdrawn if the P. G. & E. were granted the right to <br />�. <br />extend its services in an easement to be granted extending from Maple Street <br />to Chestnut Street and that it was understood that the P. G & E.'s loss <br />resulting from the closing of this alley would be $300 for the gas line and <br />$50 for the electric line. It was agreed that this charge would be assessed <br />against benefited property. City Attorney Mc Carthy advised that Mr. Duncan <br />- <br />
