278 brought the Cost higher. He believed, however, that this job should.be done well
In the beginning and asked that this matter be considered by the committee
to be appointed to go into the whole matter of policy 1n the water depart-
ment. Mr. Werder asked that a resolution be adopted by the Council so that
there would be an official record of the agreement entered into by the
Council to supply water to this district. The Council was in accord that
this agreement had been made. Councilman Anderson offered resolution com-
mitting the city to supply water to the Carson -Monckton Tract as the tract
is developed. There was some discussion as to how the tract was to be
built, it being the opinion of several of the councilmen that it was to be
developed block by block. Mr.. Werder stated that it had not been agreed to
build block by block but that it had been understood that there would be
no scattered building and that it would be a comprehensive development.
s r
Councilman Granger was of the opinion that the agreement had been to
bring the water line to the property line and extend the mains as construc-
tion progressed. Councilman Anderson changed his resolution to read that
the city would agree to extend the water mian to the Carson and Monckton
j( Traot and extend the water lines as construction progresses, seconded by
Councilman Yletcher. Motion passed unanimously. Under the question,
Councilman Granger expressed the opinion that the tract would be treated
under the same provisions as an individual water user. Mr. Werder agreed
V
.there was to be no spot building, that lots could not be held for specula-
tive purposes but that it was definitely a building project. On roll call
the resolution passed unanimously.
RES OLUT.ION No. 288
INSTALLATION OF WATERMAINS TO CARSON-MONCKTON TRACT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City, concurrently
with the annexation -to said City of the property generally known as the
Carson -Monckton Tract, assured Land Development Company, as the owner there-
of, that, in view of the assurance given by said corporation and the officers
thereof that, upon the approval and filing of maps of portions of said
tract, said corporation would proceed as expeditiously as feasible with the
construction of homes and other buildings, lot by lot and block by block
within the area shown by each such map, the City of Redwood Oity would,
without expense to the owner of said property, extend watermains of said
City, as to which no record has heretofore been made in the minutes of this
i' City Council;
RESOLVED, that the City of Redwood City will install, without cost to
the owner of property shown on any map of a subdivision of said Carson-
MoAckton Tract, after the approval and filing of said map, water mains to
service such buildings as construction therof progresses within the area
on any such map.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of March, 19461, by the follow-
ing vote:
AYES and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing
resolution: Councilman: ANDERSON, ARMSTRONG, BRITSCHGI, FLETCHER, GRANGER,
McNULTY and HILTON.
NOES, and against the passage andaadoption of the foregoing resolution:
Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT: Oouncilmen: NONE
ATTEST:
•W.
