Excepting as hereinafter stated, the cost of said work and im- <br />provements shall be assessed against property abutting the portions of said <br />streets where said work and improvements are to be constructed, proportion- <br />ate to the front footage of such property thereon; as an exception thereto, <br />the cost of the acquisition of the property for the opening of Vera Avenue <br />between Ruby Street and a point thereon approximately 114 feet southwest- <br />erly from the southwesterly line of J.unipero Street is in the opinion of <br />said City Council of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and said <br />Council does hereby determine that the cost and expense thereof shall be <br />chargeable upon a district, which district said City Council declares to be <br />the district benefited by said work and improvements, to -wit: The acquisi- <br />tion of said property for said extension of Vera Avenue, and that the cost <br />thereof shall be assessed against property within such assessment district, <br />the exterior boundaries of which are more particularly described in Exhibit <br />B, hereto attached and made a part hereof by reference, in accordance with <br />Article II of Ordinance No. 333 of said City. <br />4. Notice is hereby given that Serial Bonds to represent the unpaid <br />assessments and bear interest at the rate of nottto exceed five (5�b) per <br />cent per annum will be issued pursuant to Article I, Section 3 and Section <br />5 of Ordinance No. 333 of said City, commonly known and designated as <br />"Red:wood City Improvement Procedure Ordinance" adopted March 14, 1932, as <br />amended, the last installment of which bonds shall mature nine (9) years <br />from the second day of January next succeeding October fifteenth following <br />their date. <br />: 5. Except as herein otherwise provided for the issuance of bonds, all <br />oV the above proposed work shall be done in pursuance of the provisions of <br />Article I of said Redwood City Improvement Procedure Ordinance. <br />6. Notice is hereby given that Monday, the 1st day of April, 1946, at <br />the hour of eight o'clock P.M. at the Council Chambers of the City Council <br />of said City in the City Hall of said City are hereby fixed as the time and <br />Place when and where any and all persons interested may appear and show <br />cause, if any they have, why the City Council should not find and determine <br />that the public convenience and necessity require the improvementsrdescribed <br />and referred to in this resolution, without further compliance with the <br />Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Actl 1931. <br />7. The City Clerk shall give notice of the adoption of this resolution <br />by publishing a Notice of Proposed Local Improvement once in the Redwood City <br />Tribune, a daily newspaper, published and circulated in said City, and by <br />posting same on or near the Council Chamber door of said Counoil, said post- <br />ing and publication to be had at least ten days before said date of hearing. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a <br />regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of March, 1946, by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolu- <br />tion: Councilmen: ANDERSON, ARMSTRONG2 IMTSOHGI, RETCHER, GRANGER, <br />NoNULTY and HILTON. <br />NOES, and against the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: <br />Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT: Councilmen: NONE <br />W.
