He stated that at present very little is known as to quantity of
water which is to be required in this area. He stated that an estimate of
providing a minimum water system to provide for the requirements of the aver-
age industrial area would -consist of a ten inch main on the Broadway Exten-
sion from National Motor Bearing Company easterly through the center of the
tract to Second Avenue, another ten inch main along Bay Road, an eight inch
main on the wouth side of Bayshore Highway and an eight inch main connecting
on three north and south streets. In order to supply water to this area, it
will be neeeseary.to make a new connection to the Retch Hetchy system out
to the vicinity of Eleventh Avenue and, as a part of this extension include
a sixteen inch main from Second Avenue to Eleventh Avenue to the Retch
Hetchy at that point. The total cost to properly serve this area without
service connections would be $91,900. The new connection to the Retch Hetchy
system would provide a needed, improvement to the general area lying between
this tract and the business district. He did not believe all the cost of the
improvements of this system would be chargeable to the industrial tract.
Mayor Hilton appointed the members of the Finance Committee to serve as the
Water Committee to study the above question along with the other improvements
to the water system and the financing.thereof. The committee consists of
Councilmen Armstrong, Granger and Fletcher.
Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britsehgi, that the city donate
$400 to the Red Cross. Motion passed unanimously.
Councilman McNulty offered resolution declaring weeds to be a nuisance and order-
Ing their removal, with the hearing set for April 15, 1946. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Fletcher and on roll call was unanimously adopted.
RESOLUTION No. 290
DECLARING WEEDS A NUISANCE AND ORDERING THEIR REMOVAL
RESOLVED by the Council of the City of..,Wwood City that whereas certain
weeds are growing in the City of Redwood City upon all of the sidewalke,
® streets, avenues, roads, boulevards and highways in said city and upon all
the lots and property in said city, which weeds are of a kind which bear seeds
281
c
