9
Communication was received from Mfrs. Rose Roy asking extension of permit for
another year to run trailer camp, the present permit expiring June 30,
19+5, Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that
the permit be extended for one year. Motion_ passed unanimously.
Communication was received from Doris Dean, Chairman -of the Redwood City
• Community Council,. requesting the city to include the Garfield School
area in the city's recreational program for the summer months. Council-
man Ax=strong was -of the opinion that the matter should be referred to
• the recreation commission of the county. It was the opinion of City
Manager Mead that inasmuch as this district,is_outside the city limits
and in no way a city project it would not be 'legal to operate such a
program, in which opinion City Attorney McCarthy concurred. He said
there were certain thing the city could engage in outside of the city
limits but did not believe it would be legal to engage in the suggested
project. Councilman Granger asked if it would not be possible to use
Lanham Act funds for this purpose, to which City Manager Mead replied
that it would be impossible to use federal funds for any activity outside
of the city's recreation program. Councilman Armstrong moved the City
Clerk be instructed to address the Community Council advising that..the
Council feels it not within its power to do anything because of the
location being outside the city limits and suggest that they contact the
county recreation department. Councilman Anderson seconded the motion
with the understanding the Community Council be advised that the Council
is taking this action upon the advice of the City Attorney. Under the
question, Councilman Granger was of the opinion that better results would
be obtained if the Council would direct a letter to the County Recreation
Department. Councilman Armstrong was not in favor of this, believing tl,,at
the Community Council is eat advisory committee of the Council and would be
recognized by the county. The motion passed unanimously.
Communication was received from the Redwood City Planning Commission requesting
that John Nordstrand be appointed to the Redwood City Traffic Study Committee
to replace Henry Witte, resigned. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by
Councilman Anderson, that Mr. Nordstrand be appointed to the Traffic Study
Committee as a representative of the Planning Commission.. The motion passed
unanimously.
Communication was recieved from the Redwood City Planning Commission advising,
that application to rezone Lots 9 and 20 in Block 2, and Lots 1, 2 and 3
in Block 1, "Resubdivision Portions of Blocks 1 and 2 of Subdivision A of
Wellesley Park, Redwood City, California" from first residential district
to second residential district had been denied. Communication was ordered
filed.
Councilman Granger asked that the report from the sign committee be laid over
until the next meeting of the Council.
