Councilman,.•Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Britsohgi, that the City
t
Manager make a report as to, what it would cost to put the Yacht Harbor in
{ presentable condition. Motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Granger asked how many city employees were still living outside the
dity limits. City Manager Blom replied that the Acting City Engineer was
_ the only one with the exception of one or two returned servicemen who have
been unable to locate a home within the city limits. Mayor Hilton asked
what effect the new position of City Engineer would have on Mr. Randlett.,
City Manager Blom advised that he would be eligible to take the examination
and that if he is not successful in getting the appointment, he would be
eligible for the position of Engineering Assistant. There was considerable
discussion in regard to the amount of experience required for the City
Engineer, some of the Council being of the opinion that more experience
should be required than is set forth in the.specifications; i.e., five
years, three years of which should be in a supervisory capacity and two in
municipal work. After more discussion, it was decided to let the experience
requirement remain as set up to allow for more applications.
Councilman McNulty questioned an article which had appeared in the Redwood City
Tribune in regard to control of electroliers on the highway. City Manager
i.
Blom reported that the city had completed its share of the lighting and
had written to the county regarding the lighting of their portion of the
h 4 highway. The Board of Supervisors had referred the matter to the County
Engineer and it was believed that the county would complete this work. He
stated that the county had no control over the city electroliers and that
it would pay and install the electroliers on their portion of the highway.
Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Britsohgi, that the meeting be
adjourned. Motion passed unanimously.
R. S IDGE
Clerk of the City of Redwood City.
® MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 1, '1946
8:00 P.
