r ` 305
City Manager Blom advised that he had a request from a Mrs. Ethridge for construo-
tion of sewer to serve two lots on Topaz Street which she owns and on which
'Z7 she wants to build. The lots are about 150 feet north of Jefferson. The
E --r
street is undeveloped and there are no sewers. Cards had been sent to other
property owners of lots on this street and very few were interested in having
sewers installed. After some discussion, it was decided that the applicant
should install the sewer and if later there is an assessment district the
city could at that time give her credit for the amount for which she would
be assessed.
Councilman Granger suggested that some means be adopted to prevent heavy trucks
from traveling over residential streets, particularly in Edgewood Park. He
was of the opinion that they should be made to travel on main thoroughfares.
!. It was the opinion of the Council, however, that no action be taken on this
at this time.
Councilman Granger questioned if the multiple building on Vera Avenue was being
faced on Vera Avenue according to agreement. After viewing plans presented
by the Building Inspector, it was discovered that the entrance was faced on
Vera Avenue.
City Attorney McCarthy advised that Mrs. Miramontes was doubtful if the city had
a clear title to the lot which was to be offered for sale at the request of
Mr. Weiner and he asked permission to obtain a title report. Councilman
Granger moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the City Attorney be
l.: authorized to obtain a title report on this lot. Motion passed unanimously.
., Connumication was received from City Treasurer Dodge advising that Miss Ethel
Murray, owner of three $500 bonds in the 1915 series, has offered these
i' bonds to the City for par value plus interest coupons. Councilman Anderson
moved the City Treasurer be authorized to accept the offer. Councilman
Armstrong, however, objected on the grounds that the city bought the remain-
der of these bonds for about forty or fifty cents on the dollar. He did
not believe it was fair to the people who had sold the other bonds to accept
this offer. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong,
that the request be denied. Under the question, Councilman McNulty con-
ourred in this opinion. City Attorney McCarthy advised that these bonds are
probably outlawed if it has been four years from the last date of maturity.
He suggested that the City Treasurer notify the holder of the bonds that
they are worthless because they are outlawed. This suggestion was accepted.
Motion passed unanimously.
Claims No. 6681 to 7627 inclusive in the amount of $6558.22 were approved and
ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman
Armstrong. Motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the meeting be
adjourned. Motion passed unanimously.
RALPH S.
