by Councilman Granger, that the bid of Mr. Morrissey on behalf of Mrs. Andrini 311
r% • be accepted provided that the Council's policy,in previous cases was being
`• followed. Motion passed Mayor Hilton and Councilman Britschgi voting in the
negative.
Communication was received from Robert J. Framer, Sequoia Cab Co., requesting 180
days in which to obtain taxicabs for all of the permits which he now has in
order to comply with Ordinance No. 535. Attached were letters from local
dealers stating that bona fide orders for seven automobiles had beenP laced
and that delivery could not be made for approximately six months. Mr.
I'
Cuthbert Currie, attorney for the Sequoia Cab Co., appeared and asked that
the time limit for obtaining the cabs be extended in view of the fact that
the new automobiles have definitely been ordered. Councilman Granger moved,
seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that in keeping with the letters certify -
Ing that orders for the automobiles have been placed and for the welfare of
the city in getting good service, the request be granted not to exceed 180
days. Motion passed unanimously.
SCouncilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, filing of affidavit
of publication of proposed improvements to Hudson Street. Motion passed
unanimously.
This was the time set for hearing of protests. City Clerk Dodge advised that
one protest had been received signed b
g y eleven property owners in the 900
block on Hudson Street. One property owner appeared and asked how the over-
flow area was to be figured in regard to the storm drainage covering the
creek in the Reese Subdivision. City Manager Blom advised that the area had
not been definitely defined as yet but that it would include the area nor-
i
wally covered with water for a lingth of time following rain. The major
portion of the cost would be assessed to the abutting property owners and
a relatively small portion of the cost would be assessed over the area.
Councilman Granger expressed the opinion that it had originally been under-
stood that future improvements to Hudson Street would be borne by the pro-
perty owners and he believed that the city was going farther than agreed
t
by expending gas tax funds for the improvements. Councilman Britschgi of-
fered for adoption resolution to make improvement without compliance with
investigation act on Hudson Street from Jefferson Avenue to Woodside Road
and overruling protests. The motion was seconded by Councilman Fletcher
! '
and on roll call was unanimously adopted with Councilman Anderson absent.
{
RES GLUT ION No. 300
DETERMINING TO MAKE IMPROVEMENT WITHOUT COMPLIANCE WITH INVESTIGATION
ACT.
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood City, California, that
WHEREAS, on April 11 1946, this Council adopted its Resolution of
Aji
Preliminary Determination No. 299 entitled °Resolution of Preliminary Deter-
urination to wake Public Improvements in Hudson Street from Jefferson Avenue
to Woodside Road' to construct certain public improvements more particularly
therein described, and did fix therein April 15th, 1946 as the time and
place when and where any and all persons interested may appear and show
cause, if any they have, why the City Council should not find and determine
that the public convenience and necessity require the improvements described
and referred to in said resolution, without compliance with the Special
0
Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931; and
