316 <br />N <br />There was some discussion in regard to proposed ordinance amending the Person- <br />nel Ordinance with respect to eliminating certain employees from the per- <br />sonnel system. City Manager Blom advised that it would be advantageous <br />in some respects to eliminate per diem employees from the system so that <br />it would be possible to employ them for longer than 90 days, It was de- <br />cided after further discussion to allow the Board of Review time for <br />study of the amendment. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Council- <br />man Britschgi, that the matter be held over until the next meeting to <br />allow the Board of Review time to study the proposed amendments. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />City Manager Blom advised that the Supplemental Memorandum of Agreement with <br />the State Highway Division in regard to the expenditure of the 1/40 gas <br />tax on state highways had been amended to provide for the addition of the <br />drainage project at the corner of James and El Camino Real. Fifty per <br />cent of the cost of this project is to be paid out of the,State's portion <br />of the 1/4¢ gas tax fund and fifty per cent will be paid out of the City's <br />share. The estimated post of the project is $3100. The Council had <br />asked the City Manager to attempt to get the State to participate in a <br />larger measure but that he had had no success. Colonel Skeggs advised <br />him that the State had a rule whereby if the State participated at all it <br />participated to the extent of fifty per cent. Councilman Fletcher offered <br />resolution approving memorandum of agreement for the expenditure of the <br />Z). 1/4¢ gas tax fund. on State Highways. The motion was seconded by Council- <br />man Britschgi. On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with <br />Councilman Anderson absent. <br />RES OLUT ION No. 394 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING <br />FIRST SUPPLEMENTAL MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE OF 1/4 <br />"„ CENT GAS TAX ALLOCATED FOR STATE'HIGHWAYS <br />WHEREAS, the State of California, through its Department of Public <br />Works, Division of Highways, has presented a first supplemental memoran- <br />dum of agreement in accordance with a project statement submitted by the <br />City for expenditure of the 1/4 cent gas tax for the 1945-47 biennium <br />allocated for State highways in the City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, the city council has heard read said agreement in full and <br />is familiar with the contents thereof, <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved by the city council of the City of Redwood <br />City, that said agreement for expenditure of the 1/4 cent gas tax alloca- <br />ted for State Highways be and the same is hereby approved and the City <br />Manager and the City Clerk are directed to sign the same on behalf of <br />said City. <br />ADOPTED this 15th day of April, 1946. <br />W.
