Motion passed unanimously, <br />Mayor, Hilton called on the newly elected Councilmen. Councilman Swift thanked cS� <br />the voters who elected him and promised to do his best to live up to their <br />confidence in him. Councilman Werder also expressed his appreciation to the <br />i <br />voters.and expressed the hope that this council would be as progressive as <br />the city. Councilman Britschgi expressed his thanks to the voters and <br />promised to render decisions as fair as possible. <br />Mayor Hilton thanked the Council for re-electing him,Mayor and expressed the hope <br />that the Council would work together,in harmony, <br />A Mr. Dodd appeared before the Council in regard to the height of a fence around <br />his property. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, <br />that the matter be referred to the City Manager for action. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised that the map of Redwood Terrace No. 2 had been ap- <br />proved by the Planning Commission and that it would,be necessary for the <br />subdividers to post a bond in the amount of $65,000 to guarantee the cost <br />of street improvements. The map was presented to the Council and after <br />careful study, Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, <br />that the final map of Redwood Terrace No. 2 be accepted subject to the <br />r <br />approval of the State Highway Department. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Werder of the Land Development Company advised that his company would deposit <br />the sum of 065,000 instead of posting a bond in that amount.* Councilman <br />Armstrong moved that the offer of Mr. Ludwig Werder to deposit "65,000 be � <br />accepted subject to the terms and conditions of a letter to be drafted by i <br />t <br />the City Attorney and to be -approved by the City Manager, the $65,000 to be <br />deposited in a public depository satisfactory to the City Manager. The <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Britschgi and passed unanimously. <br />City Manager Blom stated that with regard to the water supply to the area of <br />Redwood <br />Terrace <br />No. <br />2, <br />it would be necessary to have authority <br />to <br />proceed <br />with the <br />work if <br />it <br />was <br />the feeling of the Council that it is <br />the <br />city's <br />obligation to do the work, The work should be done before the street work. <br />The cost of installing an 8 inch main to the Woodside main to provide water <br />for at least partial development of the tract is estimated at $16,000. He <br />stated that eventually a 12 inch main would have to be installed instead of <br />the 8 inch main. The material for this installation is available from the f <br />material that has been ordered. As far as the cost of labor is concerned, <br />there are sufficient funds in the present water department budget to com- <br />plete this work and also to pay for a portion of the material. He said, <br />however, that during the next fiscal year funds would have to be derived <br />from some other source if continued expansion takes place. Councilman y <br />Werder asked if the first unit of work would be completed by the beginning <br />of the next fiscal year. City Manager Blom replied that it would depend <br />on how rapidly the tract is developed, however, the work should be finished <br />by July lst and that there are sufficient funds for that.
