<br />necessity require and that it intends to order the following work to be done
<br />and improvements to be made in and for said City, to -wit:
<br />1. The construction of improvements in Sapphire Street between Jef-
<br />ferson and James Avenues and in Taft Street between Vera and Roosevelt
<br />Avenues, and in Ruby Street between Jefferson and Vera Avenues, by grading

<br />and constructing 6 inch waterbound macadam base and 1-1/2 inch asphalt top
<br />pavement, combined concrete cement curbs and gutters, and 4 inch cement
<br />concrete sidewalks b feet wide in each of said streets; also constructing

<br />a bridge in Sapphire Street across the creek traversing said street and con-
<br />structing a bridge`in Taft Street across the creek traversing said street,

<br />also the paving as hereinabove described of the intersection of Sapphire
<br />{
<br />Street with James Avenue, and the paving of the intersection of Taft Street
<br />with Vera Avenue, and the paving of the intersections of Ruby Street with
<br />Madison Avenue and Vera Avenue.
<br />2. All of said work and improvements are to be constructed at the
<br />places and in the particular locations, of the forms, sizes, dimensions
<br />;.
<br />and materials, and to the lines and grades and elevations as to be shown
<br />and delineated upon the plans, profiles and specifications to be made there -

<br />fore and adopted by the City Council of said City.
<br />3. Excepting as hereinafter stated the cost of said worknd
<br />a improve-
<br />ments shall be assessed against property abutting the portions of said
<br />streets where said work and improvements are to be constructed, proportion-
<br />'
<br />ate to the front footage of such property thereon, with an adjustment for
<br />corner lots; as an exception thereto, the cost of the construction of said
<br />bridges on Sapphire Street and Taft Street is, in the opinion of said City
<br />Council of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and said Council
<br />does hereby determine that the cost and expense thereof shall be chargeable
<br />against a district, which district said council declares to be the district
<br />benefitted by said work and improvements, to -wit: the construction of said
<br />bridges and that the cost thereof shall be assessed against property within
<br />such assessment district, the exterior boundaries of which are particularly
<br />described in Exhibit A hereto attached and made a part hereof by reference,
<br />in accordance with Article II of Ordinance No. 333 of said City.
<br />4. Notice is hereby given that serial Bonds to represent the unpaid
<br />assessments and bear interest at the rate of not to exceed five (*) per
<br />cent per annum will be issued -pursuant to Article I, Section 3 and Section
<br />3 and Section b of Ordinance No. 333 of said City, Commonly known and
<br />designated as "Redwood City Improvement Procedure Ordinance" adopted March
<br />14, 1932, as amended, the last installment of which bonds shall mature
<br />nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding October
<br />I�
<br />fifteenth following their date.

<br />5. Except as herein otherwise provided for the issuance of bonds,
<br />all of the above proposed work shall be done in pursuance of the provisions
<br />of Article I of said Redwood City Improvement Procedure Ordinance.
<br />6. Notice is hereby given that Monday the 20th day of May, 1946, at
<br />the hour of eight o'clock P.M. at the Council Chambers of the City Council
<br />of said City in the City Hall of said City are hereby fixed as the time
<br />and place when and where any and all persons interested may appear and
<br />show cause, if any they have, why the City Council should not find and
<br />determine that the public convenience and necessity require the improve-
<br />ments -described and referred to in this resolution, without further com-
<br />f
<br />pliance with the Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority
<br />Protest Act of 1931.

<br />7. The City Clerk shall give notice of the adoption of this resolu-
<br />tion by publishing a Notice of Proposed Local Improvement once in the
<br />Redwood City Tribune, a daily newspaper, published and circulated in said
<br />City, and by posting same on or near the Council Chamber door of said

<br />Council, said Posting and publication to be had at least ten days before
<br />said date of hearing.

<br />The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
<br />Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on
