355 <br />by the City Manager to inform the various taxicab companies of the wishes of <br />the Council and that the Chief of Police be ready to make his recommendation <br />at the next meeting of the Council. Under the question, Councilman Armstrong <br />stated that the Chief of -Police should make his recommendation irrespective of <br />whether or not the attorneys agree with him. Motion passed unanimously. <br />A petition had been circulated among the resident owners of property on Laurel and <br />Stambaugh Streets and City Manager Blom advised that he had addressed a letter <br />to the non-resident owners of property on these streets in regard to proposed <br />improvements in that district. The results had been combined and Acting City <br />Engineer-Randlett advised that the results had been tabulated and that 60 of <br />x <br />the total area, including school and city owned property, favored the improve- <br />ments. 6fo voted against the improvements and the rest were not heard from. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the City Mana- <br />ger be instructed to prepare the plans. and specifications for the improvement <br />of Laurel and Stambaugh Streets. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, adoption of reso- <br />lution of preliminary determination to make improvements on Lanel and Stam- <br />baugh Streets. �On roll call, resolution was unanimouly adopted. <br />RES 0LUTI ON No. 326 <br />RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION TO MAKE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS IN <br />LAUREL STREET BETWEEN STAMBAUGH STREET AND MIDDLEFIELD ROAD AND IN STAB? <br />BAUGH STREET BETWEEN 'LAUREL AND WILLOW STREETS. <br />RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood City, California, that <br />it does hereby preliminarily determine that public convenience and necessity <br />require and that it intends to order work to be done and improvements to be <br />made at the locations shown in Exhibit "'A" attached hereto and made a part <br />hereof and that the description of said work and improvements is particularly <br />described in Exhibit "B" attached hereto and made a part hereof, said work to <br />be done and improvements to be made in and for said City. <br />1. All of said work and improvements are to be constructed at the places <br />and in the particular locations, of Ithe forms, sizes, dimensions and materials, <br />and to the lines and grades and elevations as to be 'shown and delineated upon <br />the plans, profiles and specifications to be made therefor and adopted by the <br />City Council of said City. <br />2, Excepting as hereinafter stated, the cost of said work and improve- <br />ments shall be assessed against property abutting the portions of said streets <br />where said work and improvements are to be constructed, proportionate to the <br />front footage of such property thereon, with an adjustment for corner lots; <br />3. Notice is hereby given that serial Bonds to represent the unpaid <br />assessments and bear interest at the rate of not to exceed five (5fo),per cent <br />per annum will be issued pursuant to Article I Section 3 and Section 5 of <br />Ordinance No.333 of said City, commonly known and designated as "Redwood <br />City Improvement Procedure Ordinance" adopted March 14, 1932, as amended, the <br />last installment of which bonds shall mature nine (9) years from the second <br />day of January next succeeding October fifteenthe (15) following their date. <br />4. Except as herein otherwise provided for the issuance of bonds, all <br />of the above proposed work shall be done in pursuance of the provisions of <br />Article I of said Redwood City Improvement Procedure Ordinance. <br />5. Notice is hereby given that Monday the 3rd day of June, 1946, at <br />the hour of eight o'clock P,M, at the Council Chambers of the City Council of <br />said City in the City Hall thereof are hereby fixed as the time and place <br />when and where any and all persons interested may appear and show cause, if <br />any they have, why the City Council should not find and determine that the <br />public convenience and necessity require the improvements described and re- <br />ferred to in this resolution without further compliance with the Special <br />Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931: <br />6, The City Clerk shall give notice of the a,dootion of this resolution <br />by publishing a Notice of Proposed Local Improvement once in the Redwood City <br />Tribune, a daily newspaper, published and circulated in said City, and, by <br />posting same on or near the Council Chamber door of said Council, said Post- <br />ing and publication to be had at least ten days before said date of hearing. <br />The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council <br />of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day <br />of May, 1946, by the following vote; <br />
